    Who knows about Honda NS250R's?

anything I should/shouldnt look for, what are they famous for, what aftermarket bits are available etc etc.

I have plans involving track days and engine transplants with something like an FT500 XR650 or something like that.

    all input gratefully received.

A friend had one with XR600 engine in it. FT500s are slow. Stock XRs are slow. And expensive. Can go very well but need a lot of money & parts are drying up.

Any transplant is more work than you think. And most never get finished. I've done 3 transplants. One is going. The 3rd is nearly going. The 2nd was given up on. They also take more time to complete & more money. I'd say I'm ahead of national average in completion by quite some way.

Better off buying a sorted ex race-bike & spend the time fixing the other 1/2 of it's faults the last owner never got to.

The NSR as is was a great bike but they are high performance 2 stroke with a short fuse that was lit many years ago. RGVs have issues too, but if I was going to buy one the RGV would be most likely to be newer & parts more available.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
