    'Riding dirty'

i lost my licence for 59kmh over the posted speed limit.

so now i have the decision to make:

obey the law and catch the bus for the next 27 days, and then maybe another 3-6months depending on how court goes

    or

flaunt the law and 'ride dirty' til I get my licence back?

    What would you do?

If i get caught riding with no licence its another 3months without licence and the bike gets impounded for a month at a cost of $470.

At current my bike is up for sale, but that may change if the court appearance goes well.

You got insurance on your bike? If so then get caught for riding whilst unlicenced and you can kiss goodbye to that.

Unless you live way out in the sticks somewhere then suck it up and take the bus mate.

    Cool

Can you afford all those fines if you get caught?

If the answer is NO, then you know what to do.

Hey mate, those 27 days pass real quick.
See lets do the count down 28, 27 and tomorrow is 26.......

I'd just ride anyway and try and behave...then if I did get caught driving/riding DQ I'd suck it up and accept the consequences. But that's just me.

Few mates who lost their lisences just kept driving...strangely they never got pulled up either hahaha just lucky I guess.

One mate lost his for demerits, continued to drive for the 3 months without bother, then 4 days after he got his lisence back he lost it again for 50km over the limit...that made me laugh.

If I lost my licence it would be goodbye job/house/and immigration status if I paid attention to it so I would be faced with the choice of riding dirty or suicide.

Seriously though how often do you get stopped?

I've clocked up >10,000kms in Auckland in 6 months and not been stopped once by the police - if I'd been riding without a licence all that time I would therefore have come to no grief.

How often does everyone else get stopped? Or am I just lucky (or too slow...or both).

    Do what you want.

Ride the bus and nothing to tell KB.

Ride the bike and don't get caught and nothing to tell KB.

Ride and get caught and hooooo-boy, THEN you'll have something to tell KB.

Like all of us, you know the rules, so if you get caught do the time.

It's simple really, stop weaseling around it. (sorry Weasel)

Kill someone and you get punished whether you had a lisence or not...

Have you considered memorising a mates details to use in case you do get pulled up...just don't get found out for doing that hahahahahahaha...but I've seen it work quite a number of times...

Been there, done that...wasn't really worth the constant paranoia tbh.

Man did I shit myself a few times when I had to roll through wof & rego or alcohol checkpoints, or when I was riding sensibly and a patrol car lights blazing approached from behind...being in two minds about whether to drop 3 gears and nail it or move aside to let them chase who they're really after tests your calm...luckily I made the right choice every time

Insurance is the other big issue. Get in to a prang, even if not even your fault, and I don't think you'll have any ground to stand on. Your insurance co. won't back you up.

    How/where did you lose it?

Choosing whether to ATTEMPT to boost, or stop and take the punishment would be a hard choice.

Luckily I have never seen any cops on the occasions I have ridden dirt bikes around the city. I'm not sure what I'd do until it happened...I keep my non-legal bike at the farm now and that keeps me more behaved...
