    Crazy learners ...

This morning commuting in to the Auck CBD along New North Rd (two lanes ... 3 for bikes ... ) in heavy traffic. Noted an FXR150 coming up the middle lane as and we were coming up to reds with chokka traffic moved over in case he wanted to split up through the middle through a tight gap between two trucks.
Check the mirrors ... where's he gone?
Up onto the pavement, around a bin into a garden, back along 50m+ of pavement to the front of the light where he cuts in and takes off through the red (about to change).
I'm an L-plater too, but that is the third incident of this sort THIS WEEK I have seen on other L-platers (different ones).
Is this kind of thing on the rise due to:
    1) not on the rise
    2) because of the kids ... like today's crazy music
    3) because of idiots on bike purely because petrols gone up
    4) idiots in general
    5) other ... kudos for intellegent points but funny is better

... and how much damage is this doing us all with cagers / the cops?

Haha that sounds like fun...isn't being able to do things like that half the reason to ride a bike to work?

Wouldn't an FXR would be skinny enough to fit between the trucks?
I think you should blame it on video games, they must have been playing too much grand theft auto or something.
It is a funny story though.

I don't want to encourage anyone to break the law...

On my daily commute there are a couple of frequent little problem areas.

In one instance I make use of about 200m of cycle lane and maybe 50m of footpath. Hey no hold up!

The other instance, offers two choices: up on to the footpath, around the corner and down one of several driveways.

Or (used less often), into a back driveway of a (largish) commercial property, round the back, and out the drive in the front.
I don't think the owners would really approve of my antics so I haven't asked them for permission.

Maybe I should send them a box of chocolates for Christmas?

I saw a postie riding a 'sort-of-bike' try this sort of thing, as a fellow biker it was really hard not to laugh when they fell off... at least they were going slow! Has anyone else seen the bikes they ride?

There will always be nutters riding two wheelers...just yesterday I saw a guy weaving in & out of traffic then lane splitting on a ZX10R wearing only a singlet, stubbies and sneakers...oh but he had a mean looking helmet
