    Bike won't go into gear?

Hey just wondering if anyone can help or offer some advice. Got a 2004 KX125 and it was time to change gearbox oil and adjust chain and filter etc. All went good but i noticed that I couldn't get my bike into gear after doin this it is stuck in neutral...I startd up after to warm up oil n let it go through the box n lube up the gears etc. Anyone have any idea what could have casued this and should I just take it into a shop? If so any good ones on the Shore or Auckland region? Im newish to MX so dont know alot about bikes just the usual, I doubt I could take a gearbox apart etc. Also the clutch seems like it doesn't engage fully when right in, could this be the problem? any help would be much appreciated... Thanks Jeremy

sure that you put some oil back in? sounds like that you ran it with no oil in it. Either that or the wrong kind of oil was put in.

Try rocking the bike back and fowards this helps to ingauge the gears this way you should be able to go right throught the gear box and not have the motor running.
Hopefully the bike is running for a blast at the beach on Saturday!!!!
if worst comes to worst just take it into your local bike shop, being a Kx try "Spectrum" on barrys point road.
If you can't get it into first with out the motor running then don't start the bike could do more damage then good.

Im pretty sure that i used the right oil, its Motul Gearbox fluid for 2 stroke... used 750Mls. So definetely oil in there. Cheers Buddy L I will try rocking the bike around some more and hopefully get it in a gear and go from there, if not I mite try spectrum motors and hopefully get it back in time for a blast Saturday at Muriwai.
    cheers

i have seen this once before, check the sump plug has not streched, we had this on a 04 once before where the sump plug had strected just long enough to hit the shift drum, try undoing the sump plug a bit and see if the bike will go into gear (no need to have the bike running), if this is the case you need a new sump plug, wierd problem but i have seen it before

750mls sounds like too much for a 125

Hey Scott411 You were exactly right bro, as soon as i loosened the sump plug it made a clicking noise and released the pressure and works sweet now. I can get it through all gears now no probs. Yeah sump plug has stretched and is stripped. I would have never thought that could have caused this but it did. Thanks heaps mate I owe u a box of beers.

not just pretty faces down here at Mr Motorcycles, ,

if you can not get a sump plug in time, put 2x alloy crush washers (can get from anywhere) on the bottom to space it out, it will get you though the weekend and sort it out porperly next week, 700ml's is the correct amount of oil but 50ml won;'t make a difference,

WTF???? What the hell is the sump plug made out of if it can be stretched going into an alloy case? The lard from my arse would handle the pressure better than the OE part!

yeah Scott I put 2 washers on it and it tightened up good as, and goes into gear sweet. Running good no leakes around the sump so problem sorted for now. Sounds like Mr Motorcycles is the place to take your bike if anything goes wrong.
Yeah 700ml is what the manual says but i put just a bit extra in, prob 720ml.
thanks for your advice looking forward to goin riding 2moro.
