Didn't know Bruce, but my thoughts are with you Jimmy and co cause I know to well what you are going through!!! We just need to keep it FKN safe on the road. Use the track days to go hard !!!!! RIP Boys.

lol.. remember that.. and your face when he did it!

And Darryl's black TL.. poor thing.. went thru a lot! I remember being behind him on the way back from Quasi's rallye, when he was pulling an awesome wheelie on it, landed okish.. then pulled over to the side. That was the last time it moved for a while! Then the bunch of us sat on the side of the road waiting for the support van to catch up!!

Can't believe this.. RIP Bruce and Darryl, may God send peace to your families and friends affected by this tragic loss.. Didn't really get to know either of them well, except for chatting to both of them at Pukekohe.. they both seemed like really good people. but will miss them both

    The intuition of children....

Last time Bruce and Darryl stayed with us they gave us some gifts to thank us for providing them with comfortable digs while attending the Manfield race days.

One of the gifts they gave us was a "Dora the Explorer" kit for my four year old daughter. Its a back pack that contains things like a pair of binoculars and a nature kit for collecting items etc. It was a really thoughtful gift and my daughter loves it.

This afternoon when I read this thread I talked about it with Mrs Spud but my daughter was not aware of the news at all, she was outside playing on her swing.

I was gob smacked at tea time when out of the blue she said, "Dad, Bruce and Darryl gave me my Dora bag didn't they"?

Dad said, "Yes honey they did".

Daughter says, "When are we going to see them again Dad"?

Dad & Mum both having tears in their eyes then make a lame attempt at explaining the tragic cirumstances and why it is that we won't be seeing them again.

Kids have amazing powers of perception!

On a funnier note I recall the first time I met Bruce.

He had just smashed up his TL and smashed both his wrists in the process, his hands were both in plaster. I met him at Manfield and found out that he was in the market for a radiator for the TL, I just happened to have one for sale.

We agreed on a price and I drove him to the local cash point machine to withdraw the dosh and on the way he told me about the circumstances of his crash, (180kph + whellie gone wrong as I recall).

I recall he had a slight look of concern on his face as if he was thinking, "Why the hell am I telling this to a cop"? But he went on and told me all the details of his crazy antics and we had a real good laugh about it. I liked him straight away, he was just a real genuine likeable character.

Darryl was the perfect gentleman, my wife couldn't believe that he was still single.

Couldn't believe it when i saw the thread

I know Bruce and Darryl only through the posts i've read and the stories Jon has told .........

but know enough to realise that these guys were legends - and it's bitter to lose them.

condolances, not only to family and friends but to all those who, like me, are the poorer for never having met them and now, who never can.

still can't believe it .......... ghastly thing to happen.

Really shocked to hear about this yesterday - our thoughts with both the boys' families. What a tragic thing to happen.
Loosebruce and Uncle Bruce were the first two people to swap me their litre bikes for my Jade so I could go for a blat. I remember being pissed off at Bruce when he hooned off down the road standing on the Jade's seat with no hands though!
They were both real decent lads.

My condolences to both the families involved and all their friends.

I always remember Bruce as the first person on here to contact me when I asked about a headlight for my bike when it came from the UK . I then met him at my first track day on the old Taupp track and was looking forward to seeing him next week on the new track.

As for Daryl I don’t believe I had the pleasure of meeting him but if he was anything like everyone else I have met from this site and out on rides I wish I had.

    R.I.P both of you

A big Thank you to Marty at typeface for sponsoring me to have a go in my first race

    what a terrible tragedy...

I never met darryl or bruce but I can tell by the heartfelt msgs of love and support been posted here that they were two great guys who will be greatly missed in the biker family. My condolences to all of you who have lost two great friends and to Bruce and Darryls families. It breaks my heart to read that we have lost two more members in the biker community and makes it even more important that we all ride safely and continue to look after each other the best way we can. Again, my thoughts are with all of you at this incredibly upsetting time and I hope that you can take strength from each other and remember them doing what they loved. Rest in peace Bruce and Darryl.

    Heart wrenching and stomach turning.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and riders.

The sky tonight is a little dimmer as two stars are missing. Your contributions, wisdom, antics, and legacies will not be forgotten and the KB community will keep you close in our hearts.
I've finished okay...there are no last words of wisdom...it's time to pull your pants up and go home!
