And Uncle Bruce..............![]()
- He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.
I was actually on that road on Saturday, such a nice road, sweeping corners etc. really good fun... even within the speed limit.
Grateful I got the chance to know them both. LB was a one seriously hardcase Rider. Who didn't instantly like the guy on first meeting him.
I remember so clearly the day it happened. I was on my annual South Island ride at Clutha when phones started ringing. It's a small world because one of our group who I wouldn't have expected to know either, knew Darryl.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
Stupidity doesn't deserve a tribute.
You can fuck off too.
We pay respects to those two people, not the single act that killed them. Katmans message is nothing more than a wind up to get a reaction.
Very disrespectful, not to Bruce and Darryl, they're dead, they don't give a fuck. But to everyone who loved them.
9 years and it feels like yesterday.....
forever in my heart Loosebruce and DSS3
will try my best in the Suzuki Series for ya!

Weird! I was going through old KB Calendars today, and their tribute was on the back.

Not sure if many of the old crew of KB are still around on the site. Hard to believe it's coming up to 10 years that this accident happened, where we lost Darryl and Bruce (DSS3 & LOOSEBRUCE). Those on that ride will no doubt like me remember it clearly. For the new guys that won't have been lucky enough to have met these two they were icons of the site at the time, both arguably very good riders who raced together on the track and helped a lot of the guys on KB where they could, and had a lot of friends and respect through there combined passion for the sport, but paid the ultimate price for a mistake that day and showed they weren't invincible.
On the 2nd Of Dec planning to get over to the Coromandel to pay my respects to these two fallen riders who were my good friends, Bruce if you can see my new bike from above on Friday know that there is no way still I would let you ride it. To any of the old crew who check in around this time and Bruce and Darryls parents and family, Nicky, Dan, Brett, Jimmy, Sudeep, Andy, Jen etc, hope you are all well and I will be thinking of you all next Friday when I am there. Cheers
A good friend will bail you out of jail........
But a true friend will be sitting next to you saying Damn we f****d up
I only rode with, and met these guys once or twice before my son was born...I've been rather pre occupied this past decade... and have avoided group riding.Took my son around the 'loop the other day, his first big ride...and we talked about these riders, over lunch at the Coroglen, how they rode and lived...and died.
This tribute is valuable to all who met them and rememberance for their loved ones essential.
RIP Darryl & Bruce.
