It seems the mods have graced me with the right of posting the facts. I am offended that just because they weren't the first to know, they took off my initial thread, even though I told them repeatedly that the family had ALL been notified. I'm not a new member, I have ethics and logic. I find it even more amazing that they removed all the posts in this thread pointing out that fact, as well as the posts from other members expressing their annoyance at the mods for doing so, before putting the thread back up.

My opinion of the operating methods of the mods have dropped substantially. I'm even more disgusted that this thread is where this had to be said. This process will need to be reviewed, so that senior members with the facts are not cut down like troublemakers

Anyway, to get back on to topic and repeat my first post, RIP Bruce, you will never be forgotten.

For those who didn't meet him, Bruce was your absolute dictionary definition of a good guy. He was the first person I met 'of biker circles' as he led the first group ride I went on - one of the newbie friendly rides that were so huge, so friendly, and so absolutely superb round Wellington last season. He's well known as the newbie's best mate. Countless times he has rescued borken bikes and their riders; given neutral, correct and testosterone free advice; and organised countless rides over the last year or so. Literally countless. He always had a relaxed and delicately quiet manner about him with definate overtones of 'willing to have a good time at a moments notice'. Great bloke.

And he rode like a god. Not fast, necessarily, but like a god. If this has happened, and I guess it has, then it's a wakeup call for those of us who think that experience alone will be enough to keep us alive while on two wheels. I can't imagine what's happened, I can only imagine that it was entirely unavoidable ... and whatever it was, if it killed Bruce, it would have killed me too.

I need to think about this now.

Oh my god. No fucking way. RIP man, and thank you.

i never met UncleB but we were out riding and went past those fellas. They were having a great time. Rest in Peace. You sounded like a good man. This is terribly sad news.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to those that are grieving.

Bruce was the 1st KB'er I met in 3D. I was proud he chose me to be his mentor. I was prouder to be able to call him my friend. I will miss your humor, humility and unwavering support Bruce.
I was praying the universe would not take 3 friends in one Weekend, alas it was not to be.

This Weekend has been the blackest for all of us. I know all three would not wish for any of us to quit our passion on account of these tragedies.

All three spread light and joy where ever they went. Hold it in your hearts fellow KB'ers, for that is where they will live with us forever. Go with Love my friends.

Exactly, very well put. When I moved into the house nextdoor to him, he was very quickly at the fence, almost pleased a "biker" had moved in next door. From that day on, until my accident, almost every ride I went on was with Bruce. At that initial stage, I was a new learner and was thankful for the help and knowledge I got from him. As RantyDave said, right from the start you could see he was a good rider, I always dreamed of being as proficient as he was, and as safe a rider.

You couldn't meet a nicer guy, I was one of the guys he rescued when my bike got put out of action near Martinborough. He rode all the way back to Lower Hutt, got his car and trailer and drove all the way back to pick me up (although he joked that I made him miss a good day of riding). This leaves another big hole in my heart, to add to the one left after my accident took me out of riding.
