Unbelievable. last time I road with Bruce I complimented him on his smooth riding through the bends and how much fun it is to follow a good rider.
Sadly missed. Rest in peace and thank you for always being so warm and friendly and just an all round good bloke.

Every post commenting on Bruce's riding emphasises his ability and his responsible attitude. Obviously a mature and considerate road rider saving his racing for the track. Does anyone know how his accident occured, as it is obviously a lesson for all that the most competent and careful can come to grief?

There have been a few questions asked about what happened to cause Bruce's accident. I was behind Bruce at the time and witnessed the whole thing. We had a fairly hard push on some previous roads and had stopped to refuel. After this we cruised towards Castle Point in a nice flowing pace. Just after the turn off to Riversdale the Castlepoint road gets a bit twisty. It is my belief that the relaxed pace resulted in a lapse of concentration as the left hander came up and caught Bruce a bit by surprise and he entered into it a bit hot. Upon seeing the car coming the other way he applied a hefty bit of front brake. This resulted in the front locking and the subsequent low side. He and his bike slid straight into the front of the oncoming car. The tar seal on that corner is in a bad state of repair and undoubtedly contributed to the loss of traction. Bruce died instantly and did not suffer at the side of the road.

As usual it was the result of many small factors contributing to a dire event.

Jimbo. Many thanks for posting this. I had been wondering exactly what had happened and where. I now understand. I have no idea what you must be feeling but my thoughts are with you.

    Cheers -- Brett

Those are the words I was struggling to find, thanks Hitch.

Jimbo - I have no idea what, but if there is anything I can do, yell mate.

    Thanks Jimbo.

Newpaper newbrief I read said: (letter for letter)

"He came off on a right hand bend in the road as he was heading toward Castlepoint about two kilometers from the Riversdale turnoff. His motorbike collided with a car"

Was trying to figure out how he could have crashed on a right without tyhe car being parked on the bend or on wrong side of road. Whish the papers could get there facts right.

    See you guys tomorrow.
