Insane appeals to me in a stange kinda way Just for kicks the trailer at the beginning of this thread had all my garrage tools/paint/oil etc and a modern F&P oven we have been given for our house. Not the kinda thing you would "normally" take though the Rainbow for the hell of it.

I think we had better think this over some more but I'm up for a serious challange.

I've had a play at lunchtime. I recon I've got a route that should be around 1020km that we could complete in around 18 hours with nine 20 min stops including fuel at some. If we left chch at 5am we could be back around 11 and wouldnt be too early or late for getting past key holders at Rainbow and Molesworth.

Route and my time and distance calcs attached.

    Talk more in weekend Plug.

    Cheers

Probably too early for me. I’m probably not heading up until sometime after the 5th. But it’s all up in the air still at the moment.

Now this sounds like (I was going to say fun, btu probably not the right word) a challenge
Depending when it was, I think I would be keen

You can get a permit for Molesworth all year round, unless there is a Extreme fire danger in place at the time

    Cheers Scot

I kinda remember running out of enthusiam on some of the bigger day runs ive done like Chch-Kaikoura-Picton-Queen Charlotte Dr-Nelson-Murchison-Lewis-Chch, ran out a steam by Murchison, but happy to do the Rainbow both ways any given Saturday or I suppose I could do a Sunday if it had to be that day.

I'd rather do it over a couple of days and take the time to enjoy the view, and get a few pics.

Wouldn't be much else after 18 hours in the saddle. All the concentration would be on the sore arse.
