    *&@$&&*!#@(

Just got to work and there is a fucking screw in my new rear tyre, all the way in, not leaking, the tyre is less than 2 weeks old
Can they fix it or am I gonna be another 250 bucks out of pocket ?
The screw is right bang in the middle
If they fix it will it be as safe as normal ? eg.. high speed ?
I can get to cycletreads at lunchtime

can be fixed easy ,boys at cycle treats will hook you up , best to take tyre of rim and put a bung from the inside which will poke out thru hole then cut of remaning bit, mates have done this on 1litre bike all the time and can go hard no problem

Did that once, ended one the motorway with flat, within 10 sec, tyre. Bung dissapeared. May be, though, thats because they didnt take the tyre off the rim.

I saw a mates tire split at road speeds about half an hour after a bung was fitted.

Not to say that's what happens with them, But I dun seen it with me own 2 eyes. Gave the rider a bit of a fright.

Personally I'd fork out for a new tire.

Just stick an inner tube in it if you are worried about a plug not working.

If the hole's circular and in the middle of the tyre, a correctly fitted bung will sort you out.

I've done extremely naughty speeds on a GSX-R1000 with a rear Metzeler M3 that I had plugged after I rode over a rivet on the way to work. No hassles whatsoever.

Just take it to Cycletreads and let them fix it for you. Won't cost more than $30 or so.

It's really not worth wasting your money on a new tyre.

I'd revise my position, and follow Big Dave's suggestion.....

I'd spend whatever it cost to get peace of mind.If your confident that bung is up to the job then so be it. The evidence is pretty much in their favour.

This is good to hear as the tyre is brand new and I didnt have the money to get it when I had to for a warrant 2 weeks ago..
I am particulary concerned tho because I have had a girl on the back lately and her safety is paramount, seems if the job is done properly it will be ok

Rode one for 6 months on a bung, no problems. But the tube idea sounds good too.

No problems at all. I did similar a while back, a 10mm GASH through a brand new rear tire. The guys at Firestone kept air pouring into the tire while they stuffed in repair string after repair straing (all up they had... probably 8 or 10 all stuffed in one on top of the other!!!!!)

9,000 kms later I had to replace the tire though... the tread was all used up. No leaks from the hole at all.

A single screw should be easy peasy

It is $35 for a puncture repair or $30 if you have a single sided swing arm.
You can try flashing your KB sew-on patch and see if they will give a discount.

A bung fitted from the inside is no problem. That's how car tyres are fixed. Think of a thumbtack...the pin goes through the hole and the big flat head is glued/sealed to the inside of the case. Can't come off or go through the hole. How can it fail?
Failures you hear about with bungs coming out will be those that are temporary ones pushed in from outside (the roadside emergency repair type)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

They grind all the silicon crap from rubber around punture (inside of tyre) a little wider than the patch. Dab some glue ,apply patch ,pull through from outside then snip off remainder. They should also apply liquid rubber over the patch (inside) and will be good as new. It should be sweet if the tyres not ripped but yea ..?

What ever you do try not to ever use the aerosol punture spray that goes in through the valve as once its applied the tyre can never be repaired by above method.
