    Update

Quick update - nice little $600.00 ticket is in the mail for Dickhead number 2. Spoke to him on the phone and still had an attitude problem... at least mummy and daddy are going to rip into him.

Infringement? Wouldn't manner dangerous have been appropriate?

$600 is probably more than the Courts would dish out.

    Love it! Good stuff.

Many of us see examples of bad driving, is it actually worth taking the number plate and calling to police?

What is police policy on calls regarding bad driving?

Sometimes. There was a bloke who consistently went the wrong way down a one-way street I lived on (ie not an accidental one-off). I reported him and the cops snapped him for it.
Look, it's an itsy bitsy Bandit.

Carries more weight if you are prepared to go to a station and make your complaint a formal one as against just phoning up and moaning after all the only evidense the coppers have is yours

If you really want something done about it you will have to be prepared to go to Court as a witness. Otherwise the police can't do too much unless the person admits to the facts presented.

What did you fine him with? It wasn't the old "using the motor vehicle to the annoyance of any person" (or something like that), good one anyway.

Was nearly a witness to a head on coming back from akaroa one sunday a few months ago. Some dickhead that was driving a 4X4 and towing a boat decided he would pass someone doing around 100kph on a fairly short stretch of road. Just as he pulled out a car came round the bend ahead. Both the car being passed and the car coming towards the 4X4 had to brake quite considerably to let this dickhead pass. I couldn't believe it.

Good stuff you gave him a wake up call.

Saw a classic coming home tonight. Crept up the off ramp at Te Atatu with everybody else. Just as I turned towards the give way sign I saw this dick zooming up on the right with the obvious intention of getting past everybody else. He ended up diving through the 'bus only lane' going left and then nearly ran up the arse of the pickup in front of me as we headed up Te Atatu Road.
Sadly for him a couple of Coppers jumped out of the first road on the left and hauled him in. I love it when that happens.

Yip, ticket was for Driving a Vehicle in a Manner Likely to Cause Annoyance. I did think about a Dangerous Driving charge which would have caused him to lose his licence but I decided to issue the ticket instead and his mother was even unhappy about that.
