Unhappy what would you do ????

Got my brand new bike in January 06 did south Island tour back home and more Sunday rides
at 9000ks it starts to have a vibration over the next two months the shop pulls the engine out two times
it has now done 11000ks and still shacking
dropped it back to dealer spitting takes
the dealer implys he has been talking with suppliers of this bike and we may give you a new bike or your money back
next day he says the suppler has changed there minds and demanded the bike be sent to AKL for them to look at , no guarantee it will be back by Xmas for my north trip
feeling absolutely gutted and thinking i don't want this bike anymore
feel i don't have any writes

The way the consumer act works is you are trequired to give the dealer reasonable time/opertunity to repair the bike.
    Its just common decency really
That said Id suggest you may want to hit them up for a loan bike

still under warranty? as long as you have kept you rend of the bargain with care of your baby, then they should come to the party, if you can get them to take care of it with out it costing you an arm and a leg than that would be my priority. good luck!

I'd have to agree ... the act states that a reasonable time frame for repair is required before a refund or replacement is required... having said that .. you are entitled to ask for a loaner while the reasonable time frame is being used.

If you are unhappy with the time taken to repair the fault you have a right to ask for your money back. having said that ... just because you are unhappy with the bike is not grounds for a refund.

Give them the chance to repair the fault ... if it takes to long or you are unhappy with the result .. then you are covered by the act and can get the bike either replaced or your money back.

I would have thought them taking the engine out twice would be a resonable time for them to fix the problem with the bike. Talk to the cab (citizens advice beurau(sp?)

sale of goods and consumer acts come into effect.
But dude look the dealership have been doing their best---even if their best wasn't enough
Before getting upset --go see em and talk it through --youll be suprised how helpful they will be

im guessing its through dowmans? never dealt with them, but best of luck getting everything sorted!

wheres your north tour taking you, and how long were you thinking? my advice is put the tour off if you can, and head out when the paeroa street races are on. if i had enough time off remaining from work, thats when a north island tour would be started by me.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, unfortunantly you bought a Honda (not having a dig at honda's) I have heard time and time again that Honda have a really bad rep when it comes to warranty issues, they will stuff you around.

Ask the dealer for a decent loaner for your trip ....

Which brings to mind that thread of the guy who got a lemon CBR1000RR and was given the run around if not total disrespect.

Someone remind me why people buy brand new vehicles of any mode. ?

A minor fault is one thing but engine vibration is serious. If the cause could not be found with the engine removed twice (Once would be enough) then it should have been dealt with immediately to solve the problem including replacement (9 months old,WTF)
Typical Honda (They seem to have no problem when there is some PR in it ) ....... Being a new bike with low kms, a fill in bike so you are not inconvenienced from the start would give them all the time in the world to fix your bike which you purchased in good faith..What did they say after the first engine removal ?..or the second....Fob job.
I will stick to my 8 year old TL,thanks.

    Good luck.

Maybe you need to phone the Honda importer direct and ask them what they are going to do to remedy this problem since they now seem to not trust someone in their dealer network.
Ask them why their problem is your problem and you are the one having to bare the inconvenience of it.

Sorry to hear you have bike issues........ gutting! You'll be after the commerce commission. They enforce the fair trading and consumer guarantees Acts etc etc. Hope this helps.

fair trading commission and consummer protection act

While it is perfectly true that the fair trading act and consummer protection comes into play here , I can assure you from past experience and communications with them that they are a very very slow and relatively "toothless" outfit. I would guess that you could see no input from them befor next Easter if any at all.

I know how you feel about your bike , I have been in virtually identical situation befor with an engine seezing after a few 100 kms. ( they stripped it, freed the seezed bits in piston and liner with an oilstone and put it back together)

However I think in the end, after it keeps draggin on till ye nearly blow your top, they will see you right.

Hope you stay cool and try to be "philosophical" about it.
