Full license test today...

so yesterday give the old Fixxer the once over (cleaned, lubed and checked), take it for a ride and find its developed a huge fllaaatttt spot between 6000 and 9000rpm. Take fuel tap, throttle, choke and carb apart and roughly 4 hr later bike is back to normal.

Okay, so today roughly 40mins b4 test take bike out for warm up... rear tyre dead flat... inflate- flat within seconds

3km from nearest bike shop - ride bike anyways (25mins till bike test).

Mville Honda drop everything and repair tyre in 20 mins

Get to test with 1min to spare b4 my $75 disappears

Anyways test went fine and now fully legal! Resisted urge to celebrate by buying CBR1000RR and killing myself - sorry Mville Honda, maybe next year...

Good stuff. Wish I could do my full, could do it in a few weeks if I did a defensive driving course but don't have enough money, have to wait for another 6 months.

How long was the test?? Did you have to do any stuff like u-turns or figure 8's etc?

Two U-turns, one in town, one in 70kph zone. No figure 8's (r those legal on public roads?). Stopped twice to recount hazard identification. Only problem was test started @1500 - heaps of school kids, buses about. Assessor asked me what the speed limit past a stopped school bus was (20kph of course) but warned me that she would fail me instantly if I exceeded this limit - luckily she reminded me that it didnt matter what side of the road the bus was parked, 20kph still applies.

Test took approx 50 mins once license/bike chk was done

test fee is ~$70, admin fee around $40 ie. ~$110. If you miss your test or fail, you only have to pay the test fee again.

That said, when I did my test, my bike decided to lose the top end completely, just a few days before the test - it'd just get up to 40mph (which is the speed you need for the 'faster' part), but you don't want to be wringing the neck of the bike when you're supposed to be concentrating on what you are doing!

Local bike shop were great in this case - they tried all sorts of things before finding out the coil was on the way out. As they knew it was needed for me to do my test (could have hired a bike, but nice to use your own bike), they had the workshop getting majorly backed up to make sure it was ready in time!

Well done on passing - does everyone out there run into a problem on the day of their test?

I don't know about everyone else, but my GP125 decided to shit itself the day of the test. Luckily it did it in my dad's work garage where there was an old Suzuki 50cc put-around (can't remember the model - looked like a Yamaha FS1 50), a GS550, and a GT750 (Kawasaki, not Suzuki) there, along with my old CB350 twin.

So, you guessed it, I had to use the only bike I had never ridden to do my test on.

At least I didn't get pinged for exceeding the speed limit

First test I nearly took saw me twisting the key off in the ignition switch of a new-ish CB200,examiner wouldn`t let me start the test as the bike wasn`t ready in time.Old guy in the car-park showed a worrying skill at hot-wiring and had it going in about a minute,shady past coming out there no doubt.I`d forgotten to bring my Mum`s birthday card with me,plan had been to pass my test en route to my parents place,I was 17 and the old man had (wisely at the time)chucked me out of home a few months earlier.Anyway,back to my digs,collect card and..........I dont know what happened later but I woke up in an Ambulance with a face like a pizza and the bike on the verge of the wrong side of the road facing the wrong way.

It would seem so ... the week before my full test my battery died. Fine I thought, new battery after 3 yrs isn't so bad. The new battery lasted till about 2 mins into the test and then I discovered the problem wasn't the battery, I have a stuffed stator coil so not much happening in the electrical department. Testing guy noticed it because my indicators stopped going. I noticed it cos being an FXR, I no longer had a speedo ... One of those things that seems mildly funny after a week or two and a few beers....

Weekend before the test, give the GL145 a good going over, air, oil, lights all working, attached "L" plate, and gave it a wash. Tuesday rolls around, turn up for the test, and I'd blowen an indicator bulb. Not a happy chappie as it was an other 2 weeks for the next booking plus a rebooking fee, for a $3 bulb.
