Project Re-Build

Well after my recent bin, ive set about to fixing the damage...

well i got a little carried away and decided to just re-paint the whole bloody thing... colour?

not telling yet!

After getting my hands dirty and playing with carbon fiber I managed to fix the cracks and re-attach bits of broken plastic back together...

New decals have been ordered and await the shinyness of their new home!

As I write this the fairings are sitting in the garage awaiting their top coat!

Im waiting for still, calm day so i can get the air gun and compresser going with minimal fuss from wind.

I just sooooo hope I can get this finished before wednesday!

nope

hey anyone know how to use these spray guns?? got a air compressor and spray gun, the right paint etc...

just dont know what im doing really...

will have a practice and then give it a go i guess

Sweeping strokes...........wax on wax off

Say if you were spraying a panel............ start on the left side, pull trigger then sweep across to the right, finger off trigger. Then the next sweep start from the right then go to the left and so on BUT DONT KEEP THE GUN GOING ALL THE TIME, trigger on, sweep, trigger off........... kinda like a Z-motion if ya know what I mean.

Dont get too close to what you are painting or go too slow - you'll only get runs. Make sure you give the spraygun a good shake every now and then so the paint is well mixed and doesnt congel (sp?).

That dam compressor makes a farking racket!! will keep everyone up tonight!!!

off to clean garage out... and prepare for Dislocated Dans Painting Day ! ! !

Find a garden watering can and "water" your garage floor before spraying. This will keep the dust down.

Have you got a regulator? Spray guns usually run best at something lower than what your compressor will put out, 80 psi or so depending on the paint, ask at the paint shop about thinners type, quantity & spray pressure.

UPDATE:

Well after some helpful spraying tips from a fellow KBer, im waiting for the final coat to dry...

oh the paint is EVERYWHERE......... the only thing NOT covered in paint specks is my bike... which was outside
