Rush Hour + 2 Bike Cops = Motorcycle Traffic Jam

Was just coming along the North Western motorway lane splitting away........dodging angry cagers when up ahead I spy 2 bike cops riding side by side up.

I notice a few other bikes grouping up behind them, I do the same. None of us game enough to test the lanesplitting "rules" to get past them. Eventually we had 5 of us sitting behind these 2 cops in various lanes getting rather frustrated.

Next thing you know one of the cops notices us all building up behind and waves us to go through, we all wave to say thanks and he waved back and off we went........responsibly lanesplitting

That's nice of the police eh! Well, I guess we all know what the rules are regarding lane splitting now!

I was in a proper motorcycle traffic jam once.
Wall-to-wall scooters, filling up both lanes of the road, hardly enough room to even put your feet down.
When the traffic came to a standstill nobody could turn around because we were all jammed in too tight.

The jam stretched around the corner 100m ahead of me, and around the corner 100m behind me, and we were stuck there for more than an hour!
There would have been two or three thousand scooters within my view alone, and who knows how many in the rest of the jam! Must have been tens of thousands!

I wouldn't have gone. MOST LIKELY if I went through, even after being waved on, they'd pull me over for something stupid.

The only good traffic cop, is a traffic cop out of uniform on his own roadbike.
I wave to every biker I see.
