same as what ill do when i get a worthy bike
Have got mine hinged but have yet to attach a system to move it mechanically...currently manual but works well when required![]()
looks like a good wee battle going on for the bike
But ha used to have a sprung plate on a couple of bikes I had when I was youngerjust simple hinge brackets with a solid shaft & heavy coil spring rigged up to an old broken clutch cable & release lever
![]()
Used it a few times successfully but in a different era, when your in your late teens & early 20s lifes short play hard attitude numbs the brain, then you realise you might be able to out run vehicles but you can't out run a radio wave and apart from risking your own life you putting plenty of others at risk too![]()
Hero hinges on plates only show one thing "dumbass trouble waiting to happen"
I don't think it would be too hard to get a friendly bike mechanic to hook up an electric motor to the plate, and fiddle with a speed limiter, so that once the bike reaches a certain threshold, say, 125km/h, the plate flips up.
I heard of a guy getting arrested for doing the plate thing.... nice to add a criminal record to your traffic fines just to top the year off and bugger ya job.
In Korea some people put some kinda perspex in front of the plate, not quite at the same angle. If you look straight at it you can see it but at an angle and especially with a camera flash, you can't. Police had a crack down ...
Another thing I saw, after that phase, was that many truck drivers put CDs on the front of their trucks to reflect radar. Dunno if it works but many, many trucks had several CDs on their fronts. Korea is quite sunny - maybe the bright sun shine + flash reflection screws with the camera image?
Maybe I should delete this post ....
When I was running them on my bikes 17+ years ago speed cameras weren't even thought of here, there were 2 red light cameras operating in ChCh and that was it.
A having been involved in both Urban & Rural pursuits that ended in road blocks with multiple police vehicles, I'll tell you one thing " it doesn't matter a rats ass were or when you use a hinged plate, if the shit hits the fan flipping a plate wont help, it's just going to bury in futher into the shit!"
what do you think happens to a lot of old electric car aerials
