    Number plate flippy thing

Check out the last 2 paragraphs of the description!

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-81481143.htm

"-Number plate flips up for speed camera's.

The nice police person who stopped our staff member who was merely checking the bike didn't have a 180kph limiter (it doesn't) was fascinated by this device. We had to promise to remove it so that our staff member could spend Christmas with his family."

What happened to just smearing some mud on the plate? Then you can just make some crap up about how you didn't see it was obscured, sorry officer...

By mounting the number plate on a hinge you can then run a bonnet release catch through your bike and this will then flick the number plate out of sight when required...

Sounds interesting and I can see the benefits of it... but wouldn't you only use it if you (a)ride that road where the speed camera is often... (b) doing a runner

In the case of (a) then wouldn't it be logical to assume (or not) that if your pic appeared so many times on one particular camera they would stake out that road to catch you and in the case of (b) most runners don't get away do they?

I'd say most runners do get away.

I was following a bike the other day who had bent the number plate on both sides to resemble a guard!! No way could you read it.
My new number plate is interesting - it could read I naughty!! or why not!! lol

    Really? (is honestly asking)

The only runners you ever hear about are the ones who end up crashing trying to get away...

    exactly.

Why would the cops advertise the fact that some of them get away ....

Wasn't there a bit in the news section a while ago that mentioned an american biker that did a runner and blabbed about it online and a cop happened to be viewing the forum and caught hi out that way...
