The only 750 of it's type, and in our small poll the favoured bike compared to all the 600's. Considered by many testers to be the best sportbike ever, considered by many riders to be the perfect balance of power and weight, with a very nice handling package as a result. Will the 750 class make a return, or will the lack of a race series keep it where it is? Catch 22, no race series because of no bikes, no bikes because of no race series.

Lets all get Gixxer 750s and get a race class going. They'll all be similar bikes so it'll be up to how good the rider is which should make for good racing

Of course I need the money

Doesn't stop them making 800cc race bikes. Sure, they're prototypes, but if it's got 2 wheels and a manufacturer's sticker on it, people will relate it to the road bikes.

So many great bikes - all off which have performance that cant be used to the full on the road - if you want to stay semi - legal and intact, 99% of the time!
Charpentier reckoned the 07 CBR was faster than the 04 Ten Kate Superstock bikes, stock!

I'd like a 750, but I think I'll get an Enfield 500 and amble around the countryside.........

For those who've ridden both - what are the differences in power delivery and handling between the K4/K5 750 and the current model.

The older bike had the perfect seat height and ergonomics for me, the current one seems so much smaller.

I have ridden a K4 600 and a K6 750. The 600 had great handling that gave me the impression I was going faster on my work route than my K4 1000...I wasn't [speedo doesn't lie], was a hell of a lot of fun and felt heaps smaller and lighter than the thou . The 750 was easily a better handling bike [in fact the best up to date I have ridden] a LOT faster over my work route than either the 600 or thou, effortless and reassuring to ride fast with pin point accurate steering and felt even smaller than the 600.
When I came to sell my thou the 750 lost out on comfort only, to a K6 thou [this was important with my dodgy neck]. Penis measuring aside the average rider would be faster [easier] on the 750 than either a 600 or a 1000. I have heard tall people complain of a lack of room on the new 600/750.
    Ride both Ujwal.

Kawasaki needs to make a bloody 750/800 or something. While the gixxer looks all good on paper (600 frame, with 750 engine) look at what you get for $1000 bucks ish more? The gixxer thou is better value for money imho.

most of those 600s are pretty small bikes, and tend to be more track focussed, meaning they are more peaky...

having to go for one... Kawasaki all the way... those bikes talk to ya...

Money aside, most people can't ride the thou as fast as a seven fiddy

    Completely true mate!.

The K6 750 has the perfect balance with power/handling. To date I can say that the K6 750 would be the most confidence inspiring bike and best handling bike (in stock trim) I have ever ridden and I have ridden a LOT of different bikes.

The only reason I bought the 1000 was the extra torque as I ride 2up most of the time. If I was single and didn't have the missus on the back I would have bought the K6 750 and nothing else.

My choice is ZX-6R for the mo. Looks dead sexy in pics,
but its what they look like in the flesh and how they feel that will make my decision.
No word yet on NZ prices.
    07 ZX-6R $8999USD
    07 ZX-10R $9999USD
For that extra $1000USD you get better value i.e steering damper.
600cc bikes are a little over priced because they are the biggest seller.

    1. I hear ya brother. Sing it out loud (so Mr K hears us)
    2. I wouldn't describe the 636 as peaky. The power just climbs from 8,000 onwards through the redline. What more can you ask for.
    3. Sing it again bro.
Justsomeguy, It's been said so many times. Buy what YOU like. I've ridden all on your shopping list except the 750 -blame that on a disappointing lack of demos around. If it's road use you do then I'd think twice before touching the yammy. Now that's peaky. My lawnmower has more torque.
You want a bit of euro flair, or just something different, then the Trumpet has looks, style and performance and a unique engine format.
You mentioned the 636 is no longer available new. The local shop here has a brand new 2006 636 going for...$13,995. That's 14 grand for a new bike, 2 yr warranty blah blah. Hard to go passed that and justify the extra dosh required to get on the 750, 675 or 749. Now that I've restored mine to the euro spec with the extra 10hp up top, it's bloody fantastic.

The current GSXR750 is a lot more comfortable for me than the previous couple of models, plus it is a hell of a lot easier to ride, and ride WELL, than a 600.

The 750 has a much broader spread of power than my R6 did, and has much less weight on the wrists.
