    Hey Lurkers

I'm slowly working out there are quite a few of you out there, and I had a thought.

... why not start off getting yourself some safety gear and join in some of the group rides etc as a pillion.

You get to join in, meet the people and get some experience under your belt before you have to shell out the big dollars on the machine/get your licence/whatever. I'm happy for someone to sit on the back of my bike anytime - and I expect there are a few others in a similar position.

    ... just a thought...

Talk to Julie (now Blondini) she started out here as a pillion and it seems the experience is continuing well for her...
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

Who says they're pillions? I know I tend to lurk around other forums quite a bit, through Google searches for stuff about my bike. You don't really feel much need to join, unless you have a particular question to ask.

At any rate, they bloody well should join up! Go on a ride!

Fair call... the thought I had relates to those waiting to get into motorcycling... just at that point where they can watch but not join in... yet.

    Guilty as charged....
Although a long time rider, mainly a loner, I'm hesitant to go on Kber rides because of the sort of comments that tend to come on here about them, but that could say more about the commenter than the rides? Also I think I'd raise the average age of the ride by about 5 years

I'd seriously suggest you come and judge them for yourself if you're interested. I'm not saing there are no problems - they just tend to get more focus than they deserve.

Try one ride... and it's your call from there.

Dont believe everything you read about the rides. If you dare!!!! come on one of mine, when i get around to organising one.... Tell ya mate, you will have alot of fun, dont worry about age either, dont care if you are 16 or 60, as long as you go home feeling good about what you have just done thats all that matters........do ya drink?.....

thats a great idea! i was pillion for..................10 years. (starting out on my street every evening when dad would get home from work)

and then you would meet people face to face, and when it comes to buying your bike, you will have plenty of help from people you ahve met face to face.
n you'd rack up all sorts of knowledge before it comes to the time where you are gripping the accelerator.

The thing is by lurking you're not getting involved. You've got an interest in biking or bikers otherwise you wouldn't be lurking here. I say, if you like it get involved - whether it is by being a pillion, getting a bike or becoming a member here. Some do bite but for the most part we're a good bunch of people.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Hmmm... this is interesting and I'm wondering if I should even post or if I'm just asking for a flaming....

I started out as a pillion, then I carelessly misplaced my chauffeur. So I came in here and asked airound to see if anyone would be willing to take me as a pillion (no strings attached, so to speak). I discovered that it's quite a risky thing for a single female to do. Most people were kind and helpful, but I found I had to be very alert against the freaks, weirdos and hormone-overdosed little boys.

So yeah, sounds like a simple thing - just log in and head out for a ride. Actually it requires a lot of thought, a lot of caution, and a large dose of trust.

By the way, I found my chauffeur again.
There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing!
