I too have nothing but praise for the GPX, I'm 6'2ish and admittedly it's a bit small, it's not uncomfortable it just looks kinda odd hehe. Mines a 1990, I don't know about the '06 models - I hear they have great torque but I really don't think their end game is much of a step up from a GN250 to be honest. It's a step up sure, but I don't think its astounding. (Correct me if I'm wrong anybody)

Still a bloody great bike though, it's fun to pretend you're a fast bike at the lights with its accelleration ;p

What you NEED is an RG150, what a beast of a bike. Plenty quick, easy to maintain/work on, nice and light, good breaks, good looks and an awesome fun bike. Anyone who has started on an rg has nothing but praise for them.

Edit: GO the 2 stroker !!

Honda VTR250. You could fit bar fairing if you need one. A V-Twin has got to be better than a parallel twin, plus a Honda's gotta be better than Hyosung. I have a RG and just can't seem to get used to it. I ride my old VT250F instead.

RG150 also a very good bike as Klown has just said.

But for the money, it wouldnt hurt to go for a new 250 . Personally id go with a GPX, just because its been around a bit longer than the Comet, therefore the gremlins would be less and more spares would be available.

I was in the same position last month. GN just didnt do anything for me so got a GT250R (nicer than the GT). I love it. Its not a speed demon, but as others have said it sure looks the part. It will go plenty fast enough for you to lose your license for 6 months.

Can't really comment too much on handling as still getting a feel for the bike (slow learner), and have no problems with it in the wind or rain
