Hey guys, looking for some info on an import I'll be doing shortly.
I've been living in Darwin, Australia for the last 12 months and picked up a 1978 RD400E nice and cheap.
I have a hand written Bill of Sale from the previous owner but the bike doesn't have plates.
In the Northern Territory you need to get the bike roadworthy before they'll give you a plate or any documentation that officially states that you are the new owner of the bike...
I'm working on getting the bike roadworthy but possibly won't have this sorted before I ship it back to NZ.
I can probably get a document from the Police here that states the VIN # is not on any stolen lists.
Can anyone recommend if this will be enough to eventually get a plate for the bike in NZ?
I know the RD350s were sold in NZ, not entirely sure about the 400s. I have a feeling the Reg in NZ would be easier if I had the bike registered in Aus beforehand as I've heard the LTNZ can be very strict with papertrails and all I may have is a plateless bike, a handwritten Bill of Sale and a letter from the police.
Thoughts? Would this be enough?
Thanks in advance.
