If I kin negotiate Orkrand traffic, then so can you. I'm looking forward to my first road rage incident...

KB is watching you!
Actually every time I go into a bike shop Crashe seems to be in there!?
Good to meet you Colapop, I think you're safe from the traffic at the moment as everybody seems to have left town!
Um ... yeah... more like they're safe from me!
It's been great putting faces to names since I got here. And there's more to go yet...

Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.

Well I thought I better do some more practice after being really slack yesterday - AKA a bit slow after New Years![]()
My start offs are now getting smoother as are the hill starts up the driveway. However my gear changes are awful and I need to get these much smoother and easier by taking it slower. Note to self - calm down a bit more!!Three point turns are now easier and I am finding the balance of the bike.
Charlie Chaplin is still alluding me at this stage!!!![]()
Finding neutral is a B******d on the Virago but that's a quirk I will have to get used to.
All and all a good hour spent practising and it felt good to be out there on my own.
Roll on Thursday for my next lesson with Crashe.
Small and dangerous with a sting in my tail!!
Either Charlie will find you or you will find Charlie......
Never fear charlie is there and then your gear changes will improve in leaps an bounds.
Dont worry about trying to find neutral.... tis a buggar to find at the best of times.... just pull in your clutch and hold it in..... and throw it into 1st after you have stopped.
I will show you again the tip when we meet up on finding neutral.
Relax and it will all happen...... then you wont get so hot and bothered..
Well done...... keep on practising.....
I will have you riding on the motorway soon enough and out on the country roads real soon. Yep you just never know when I will say "Lets go....... follow me!" When you lest expect it......... hehehehehe.
Thanks Crashe!!! See ya Thursday my mentor.![]()

Well done Scorpy, I'm just embarking on teaching Mrs Insanity to ride too. Even threatened her that she'll inherit the mighty VTZ of doom if she gets the bug. Also that means I can buy a new bike but thats all good.
Any advice on lessons? I want to make it fun for her.

Yep get someone else to teach her........
Seriously you never teach your partner how to drive a car or ride a bike...
But if you insist on teaching her....... be very patient....... and I mean be VERY patient. Allow her to make those mistakes...
Show her using your bike the little things to help make it better.
ie: throttle control, holding the levers.........
(Some have smaller hands and have one finger down and 3 over the lever.)
Use your driveway to get her used to the throttle.... and use your quiet street to go up and down and up and down........ over and over..... until she gets used to doing a little bit of speed....... like getting into 3rd gear maybe 4th gear.
Explain that you do things your way on the bike and THAT she will develop her own style...
Only do one hour on the first day and then put it away...
One hour is alot for the brain to obsorb in the first lesson.
Keep telling her how well she is doing..... all that postive feedback helps a lot.
DO NOT YELL AT HER.
But most important be very patient.......
Remember once upon a time you were just the same and had no idea.
Show her BuckBuckNo1's thread on learning to ride..... get her to read that....as there is a lot of good stuff in there........
Good luck....... and be patient.
