Cheers guys, its a pleasure to be around here.Originally Posted by Everyone that said welcome

There always seems to be something about your first bike that your remember it for, no matter how bad or how good it is/was. Kinda like your first root...
Heh I had a guy tell me that it wasnt the orignal speedo once at a bike shop, said it was off a Honda, but from pictures I have seen on the net of other GS250's, its a genuine GS speedo.
The GS engine is like the brother to the GN I suppose, its bigger (ie heavier and wider) and its a twin (the GN is a single). Also my bike has a bit more torque at higher rpm than my brothers GN250, however my bike is very sedate untill you hit about 6000 rpm.
I heard your bike start up when I was a nearing the round about at Inwoods road, it sounded nice, I didnt hear the backfire though.
Yea my bike failed to start once, lots of people noticed me in the polytech car park. I spent like 5 minutes trying to push start it. It doesnt like starting at all with a flat battery (even when you push start it). I spent about a month doing this because the coil on my bike fried itself and the battery stopped charging. Had to put the battery on charge over night, every night. Cant say anyone wanted to marry me though after seeing me get all hot and sweaty running up and down a car park in full leathers.
And it was a pleasue to meet you to, sorry about blowing your air of mystery though. Seems I might have made it a habit of these things.
How bout selling your bike in the next 6 months? Depending on the Ks, age, and how generally reliable your bike is, I will be very tempted. Its a very nice looking bike.
Ahh it'll be 6 months at the earliest before I can sell. We're heading over to Samoa or Rarotonga in June for a week (25th wedding anniversary) so I won't even start thinking about the bike until we get back from that and assess finances.

Yep, kill switches have probably caught us all at some time or other.
My claim to fame resulted from Suzuki's inexplicable decision to fit an old-fashioned frame-mounted steering lock (as opposed to integrating it into the ignition) to the 1100 Katana.
I'd only that morning collected the (brand new - 4km) bike from the dealer on my way to work. I finished my shift, walked to the parking lot to see the bike surrounded by numerous people (who'd not yet seen a Katana), proudly climbed on, started it and rode off - but immediately fell over when the damn bars wouldn't straighten up.
I didn't keep the Katana long but never used the bloody steering lock again!
"Safety Cameras" Yeah, right!
Hah. Surprised you heard it from that distance. I've always thought it was fairly quiet ... sort of like a sewing machine on steroids. I dare say though that I probably gave her a decent rev when she did start just to remind her who the boss is and she does have a nice howl at higher revs.

I know the "shit my bike wont start in front of a whole lot of people" thing well. I proudly threw a leg over mine in High St Lower Hutt with heaps of people around and hit the starter....... Nothing, checked the kill switch, was on, took the seat off to check the battery was connected, no not that!
Scratched my head for a while as I wasn't parked long enough for the battery to flatten and the instruments were glowing bright. Looked down at the instruments again and hello the green neutral light wasn't on. My bike doesn't start in gear! Would be a good prank if you were sure that the persons bike did the same thing!@#%&^#%
