    New Year's: A look back on 06

i find myself alone on new years

so thought i would take a bit of a lookback

it's been a really bad year it seems for bike crashes so maybe for the first time ever the turn of a new year will mean something, to turn a new leaf for myself and hope for a better future ahead.

around march this year i got a gn 250 rebuilt it compltely down to every last nut and bolt sent engine away to get rebuilt, custom paint the whole works. ran a 19.34 - 100.5 kph at mere mere dragway there was the embarressment of getting creamed by texmos scooter but the the joy of loading it up and dropping the clutch that i was beating gixxer 600's off the line.

then i got my gpx 250 with a blown motor, came with another motor ended up replacing a piston and after many hours till 3 am in the garage with deathstar and swantiger we eventually got her to run... learnt some good skills on that bike, never crashed it, then discovering hey i wanna go faster but still on learners.

i moved on to a zxr 250 a model, after 2 weeks swantiger was the first to lay her down with a slide across i carpark in orewa behind the kfc.... fond memorys of that good old car park...riding from home to silverdale with no fairings at all in my red and white retro leathers the only piece of plastic the the little bit that went over the tail light side cowlings were gone.
was a funny sight, then along came the wheelies.....and slides down the road etc from pushing the thing to limits well for me anyways. once just 100 metres from home leaning it over too far on 2 day old not fully scrubbed in stone cold tyres ... only to come home and see dad laughing his arse off in the kitchen window, as he saw me crash.

then there was the trip to kaiaua keeping ahead of kittyhawk on her 600 too busy looking in my mirrors and realised oh shit corner stood it up like a newbie but managed to lay it down in gravel instead of hitting a fence trees and going down a large drop off cliff. so that was a lucky day

then along came nz_liams old black zxr250c model which i managed to slide across the road on my arse with because i lost it in diesel during very light rain.....coming into the street work was on.

lost my job at botany honda because josh the old parts guy got out of drug rehab and wanted his job back .....strolls in every morning at 1030 or 1130 am works half arsed all day singing along to the radio well if you call it singing so badly to the point customers left the shop...and i get told ....mark we would rather have josh hes completely unreliable even though you are here at 750 every morning without fail ready to work at 8 ....and you don't know if he will be there from one day to the next but he already knows the job fully.....so out i went on my arse.....

then inline four ended up paralysed after a beach accident. once again bringing home the reality of the dangers of motorbikes.

and then paul also getting paralysed.

then the loss very recently of a true hero to me

    Bruce mathie (loosebruce).

he was truely my inspiration to improve my riding and try so much harder to be like him , such a great caliber of rider and a truely good bloke. i will really miss ya bruce.

a bit of a look back on the year sorry to have bored all of yas

bring on 2007 i'm ready to grab it and get racing

    conversation of the year:

me: hey bruce wheres your mirrors bro

loosebruce: i dunno wheres my numberplate and road legal rear tyre.

me: **looks at back of bike** not so much as even a plate hanger and a race slick rear tyre, i looked at bruce with a big ass grin

loosebruce: **chuckles his half laugh yeah bro hehe**

    Cheers: SkidMark aka markauckland

have a safe holidays all and i look forward to seeing you out on the roads when i get a bike again stay safe all, but have a hell load of fun.

Very true. We are free to choose however we wish to live our lives. But we are not free from the consequences of those choices.

The metal came out!!!! got to "meet the parents" in NYC, saw phantom of the opera @ Majestic, zxr4 passed on, gb cafe built, sold without wof cos i was on pager and couldnt finish. After testing a million bike, rode the fazer, could stop smiling...2 days later she was mine. Quit my job, holden....and the pager - to a much better life and more time with the misses and the bike...and lunch with big wigs everynow and then

If that's true, I'd be seeing an employment lawyer. Might be something in it for you.

Even without a written signed contract, every employee has certain rights under the law. Unfair dismissal is one of them. Even for part timers or whatever he was classified as.

What do you mean 'never crashed it'? I would consider hitting a silly cage a crash... Anyway, this is what it looks like now

Happy New Year Mark, hope it works out better this time round

Really? So JOSH (a.k.a Parts 'Boy') at BOTANY HONDA in Auckland, New Zealand is a druggie and is in and out of rehab centres?
