    One more gone

No, not a biker down. Another freedom has been taken.
The Northern territory has imposed an open road speed limit. It's now 130 km/h. Apparently this is going to fix their horrendous road toll. 50 people died on their roads last year, which is seemingly too high for a population of 200,000 people.
The fact that most of the dead are car loads of pissed Abo's in vehicles that a scrap dealer wouldn't take isn't deemed relevant.
So that leaves parts of the Autobahns and Montana as the only places to let loose legally.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

I went for my last "open speed ride" on Saturday.....
Most of the accidents occur within the city limits, youngsters and alcohol and disregard for seatbelts plays a major part in most accidents/fatalities.
Lot of the accidents are single vehicle accidents too....
Came in to work this morning at a sedate 140km/h, no coppers on the road at that time, but not willing to chance my luck!
No demerit points YET, there are mumblings....

    All the best for 2007

Demerits coming later this year, apparently.
And now you too will be able to enjoy speed cameras - especially the new two direction ones, 'specially developed to catch bikes!

Abos have cars now? When did that happen, I sorta thought they still rode round on kangaroos.

Nah, don't ride them much these days, they seem to prefer them as tucker!

The 130 limit is only on the main highways, 110 on all other roads and the usual 60 in urban/town/city limits.

Yeah, lot of V8s around here too, bit of a waste now....

Haha, was told that the other day. Most people are pissed because they didnt impose it because of the deaths. Its the principle and money collection (As told to me by my sisters boyfriend who is in Alice govt)

Opposition party says they will remove it if people vote for them.

The Autobahns get fairly well policed too. Even without speed limits they come down on drivers regularly.

I agree with mstriumph, we didn't even have these issues when we were in South Africa. Admittedly, things have become worse there, that is why we left!
I have found that only being in Oz for 5 months has made me very rascist..... no, actually I am a realist!

Phew, weird post - busy day at work!
