Old Hondas never die

They get restored! That right. restored! There's a big restoration thing happening in the UK, the US and Europe with the olf VF1000's and CBR 1000's. Here's some fine examples.

1. Pic 1 is a '86 VF1000FF from the Netherlands
2. Pic 2 is a '88 CBR 1000F aka "Hurricane" from the US
3. Pic 3 is a '90 CBR 1000F from somewhere in Europe

What ya mean restored. Here they haven't been "retired" yet and are still working hard. "Roxanne" (My 1990 CBR1000FL) is still going strong after 75,000Miles (120,700Km) @ 50,000Miles (80,000KM) "She" wasn't even showing engine wear (But I gave "her" some new rings and a hone as a Birthday prezzie anyway).

These particular bikes were all bought off wreckers and then restored. I'll see if I can find the link the article in the UK about the guy restoring a VF1000FF. Here's another example fof a restored CBR1000F rom the US:

Was wondering what all the fuss was about. Some of those old plonkers, with a bit of TLC, last a fucking long time anyway. Plenty of mint old gals, and bikes, at the Cold Kiwi this year. Cheap as chips to pick up too, I might add. Gerties got 126,000kms up and thats an old air cooled model with well known engine issues.

I was wondering what was avilable 2nd hand in OZ as most dealers charge the earth for real POS. Below are three examples of old Hondas in exceptional condition for under $5,000 AUD.

1. a VF1000FE for $2,900

2. a VFR750F for $4,800

3. a CBR1000F for $5,900

The bikes have moderate kms considering their age. It's also possible they were grey imports.

The VFR750 would be my pick of the three. Had finally got the V4 engine design sorted with that model.

i had an old cb750 k2 sohc in the eighties and used to thrash it between ak and whangarei for two years solid and other than oil changes nothing ever went wrong,reliable az.sold it to an older guy who restored it,i paid 800 for it and sold it for 800,i wonder what its worth now.my old man also had 77 supersport cb750,sohc,that went well also.

This is not the sort of thread I should be reading when I am desparately avoiding forking out $400 (which I don't have) to buy a running but near trashed vf750...

Restored a cbr600 (it had seen a hard life) much fun, Engine was running on 3 and the brakes had seized. The real pain and but that needed most work was the plastic, time appears to be taking it's tole and the plastic was really brittle. At the end of the day (well year) it came together nicely and was even sold before I could put the final touches to it!
