Well it turns that I don't know the male killed but I do know of his extended family. It doesn't say to much about the collision..thank goodness. The motorbike rider was hit by a Camry wagon that contained a Husband, Wife and young child...they were going back to Auckland after their holiday. I really feel for these people as they didn't see him because of unknown reasons. He had just asked his fiance to marry him on Christmas....it really hits home doesnt it.
Be careful out there guys and gals...
1990 GSXR 750 - want one, can be crap, can be awesome....pm me.
Sad news...
I have to say, it's one thing that really scares me riding or in the car is people turning out of side roads / driveways while over taking. You an look and look but sometimes, you just can't see them.
I don't think all the policing in the world could stop that. (better road design might)
RIP
There was a very brief section on this, 1 news yesterday, indicated that the motorcycle fatality was the first road death in New Zealand for 2007.
So very very sad, it shows just how vunerable we are.
R.I.P biker.
Regards
Peter
On Time .... In Spec .... On Budget .... Yeah Right!
The residential "side road" is starting to appear in New Zealand, where you turn off the main drag in to a parralell road which has the houses / driveways on it.
It would limit the speed of impact if any and reduce the number of entry and exit points to the traffic flow.
I first noticed these in Aussie back in the late 80's and they are all over the USA.
We are only just starting to catch up!
On Time .... In Spec .... On Budget .... Yeah Right!
Yeah but it's a very real hazard in rural or semi rural areas where 'lifestyle blocks' have been added
R.I.P Bikerand condolences to the family
I jsut went upto Kaikoura and back from Dunedin and there are some metal drivers out there..
Be careful out there guys oh and gurls
R.I.P and condolences to the family.
Rest in Peace Brother.
I don't think the intention is ever there, it's just that some drivers are not as attentive, and often won't drive a car, like a chess player plays his game i.e by thinking well ahead of his intended actions, to see what possible outcomes could arise. Too many drivers live in the immediate 3 second zone, and struggle to see 100m ahead of their bonnet.
The act of passing another vehicle is an especially dangerous one, if not properly thought out.
Another needless death, my thoughts go out to this man's family.
Homer you shot the zombie Flanders !
He was a Zombie?
The universal excuse.
No "unknown reasons", they didn't see him because they overtook blindly. Reports said he was hit while attempting a right turn, so he would've been near the middle of the road. A fairly obvious position to be seen in, IF THE CAGER HAD LOOKED.
I don't feel for him, I'd save my sorrow for the dead guy. The cager is still alive and has his family complete.
Speed doesn't kill people.
Stupidity kills people.

" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
So Iron Man has finally got his license?
I am Iron Man!
Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all,
Or if he moves will he fall?
Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We'll just pass him there
Why should we even care?
He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
Where he traveled time
For the future of mankind
Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfold
Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved
Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge
Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again!
WTF! Im so sick of this.
Do we have to ride like assholes in NZ just to get seen by cars?
Why should riding a bike be a pastime as dangerous as russian roulette? Drivers should open there fricken eyes and be calmer on NZ roads.
Sorry about doing this here, and my condolences to those involved.....but i am sick of hearing about lives lost cos someone wasnt paying attention.
