Yeah I went. The hard slick surface made for the toughest ride I have had at Maramarua. Even the ride back in July was easier due to the ground being softer in the winter. Had to keep the speed up to combat the tyres loading up, but then with the base being so slick and if you got cross rutted, it was over very quickly. Probably had about 3-4 spills. Some guys were coping better than I was. I'm more of a sand rider. Had fun though, and the second long lap was more fun with some parts drying out a bit.

Is that you Brendan, 178? If so, after I followed you up that trail where I passed the entrance on the road and you passed me while I adjusted my forks, I came off on that road going up hill quick as anything. The front started sliding up the side of a rut and I was off in a big hurry. Lucky no damage was done, but thats why I took so long to come out again at the bottom. That and the fact I stopped again just before the bottom and those kids on Quads came through and got stuck just before the road section.
And you led me down that hill when I was being a bit tentative ha ha. I was having trail grip issues! What tyres were you running?
Sorry, I didn't really recognise you when you passed in your van. I thought that was you after you had passed. I recognise you more in your helmet than out. Must catch up for a ride sometime eh?

Yep its me. Yea that hill is a bit of an ugly decent! I think i know where your talking about that rutted clay up hill?? If so i found the hard left on the edge of the trees was the fastest way up! The front tyre is the standard bridgestone the rm`s come with on the bcak i was trying a different tyre and sizeing. It was a dunlop 752 i think 100/90/19 so a bit skinier than usual but it works very well. Yep will have to catch up for a ride going to kimmys tomorrow and GNCC at maramarua sat

Wouldn't be very nice racing the GNCC there if it was still wet like that, but with all the sunshine predicted for the rest of the week it should dry out nicely.
Was a bit tired today from the ride but went to Thunderx anyway and had a blast. Got a couple of good pics of me and my mate on his CR going over one of the jumps.

Yeah thats the line I was taking but the front started drifting up that slick hard ridge and I lost it. If you were going to Kimmys on Friday I might have been keen too, as its too late to get organised for today. Had a friend who wanted to go Wed but didn't want to go the day after Maramarua. If he could have made today, I would be there too. Good luck at the GNCC.

I didn't manage the ride due to work, but did it on new years eve.
My first time on it and it was great, had to do it a few times.
But the rut on the uphill right sweep was bad.
