I've got a TE450 (enduro version of the TC mx version). It's also a 2004. I had heard that some of the 2004 models had problems with valve stems snapping. I've had mine checked and it's OK.

I also had problems with the starter ring gears losing teeth. It's easy to check, simply remove the starter motor (two small bolts) and spin the three rings inside the engine casing, checking for missing teeth. See photo. If they're chewed, it's an 'engine out' job to have them replaced. Mine was done under warranty. Worth checking, takes about 5 minutes.

Other than that, not much else to worry about. They're very fast, very powerful and very capable. The 2004 450 was voted top enduro bike in the US in a test fleet of about a dozen bikes.

    Good luck.

Dunno why you can't see the pic. It's there when I'm logged on. Maybe ask an administrator? Or can anyone else help? If you're still having problems seeing it, PM me your email address and I'll email the pic to you.

On both the TE and TC models of '04, a kickstart was an optional extra. Mine's electric start only.

If you want more detailed internet information, there's heaps on www.thumpertalk.com, go to the Husqvarna page.
