    It's started already

In 2005, when I fell down the steps and broke my foot, not one, single, solitary person suggested, or even hinted, that I should stop using steps.

So why is it that after binning on 22/12 and breaking an ankle and a thumb, every man and his useless dog thinks that I should give up riding bikes as they "are so obviously dangerous".

To be honest, I expected some flak, but I'm over that already and would just like to be able to respond with some smartarsed comment that would leave them totally gobsmacked.

I know I'm not the only one who has faced this so, come on folks, hit me with your best retort...

As if the lack of riding isn't punishment enough for my sins, and today is a stunning day for going off on a bike, I have to put up with this kind of shite too...

You already have the obvious comeback.

"You didn't tell me to stop using stairs when I broke my ankle by falling down stairs, so I am about to apply my imbecile filter, seeing as you have so obviously applied your motorcycle filter."

    Followed by:

    "What's that dear?"

"Sorry, you seem to be mumbling."

"You really should see a Doctor about that speech impediment, or is the "Motorcycles are Dangerous" mantra the result of a head injury or brain damage? Is there anything I can do to help with that?"

You know! Biting sarcasm. You do it so well anyway mate

My pushie riding boss tried that shit on when I fell off on the 'takas on Dec 9 2004.

I got the mince in the stocking out of my drawer, the cheese grater out of the other drawer, and demonstrated what his leg would look like after a 60km/hr slide on tarmac wearing lycra.

If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I could go off you in a big way, mate..
First, you accuse me of being demanding, now, its biting sarcasm.
I will have to think long and hard for a fitting response to that, by which time the moment will have passed - mebbe those scratches on my helmet are not from the road, rather from my brain leaching out....

Nah, just give up biking - you suck at it.

Have you thought that maybe it's just you? Perhaps you're just a clumsy b*tch?

"You know there are a lot of things that are dangerous, like what you just said for example, could get you seriously injured."
Most things that people enjoy have an element of risk, that is part of what makes them enjoyable. Pick something that person enjoys and ask them if they were injured doing it does that mean they should give it up?
Or you could go with str8's suggestion too!
Or even go to great lengths to explain to the person that this is something you do because you love it and it is a major part of your enjoyment in life. Ask then if they really think it is reasonable for you to give up something you really love to do just because of a little injury. Then tell them to fuck off.

"If you can't laugh at yourself, you're just not paying attention!"
"There is no limit to dumb."
