    Meremere Drags

    Shit...
Went to the drags at meremere for the first time ever today! Fuckin wicked man! Some nice bikes were there too. Was tempted to take my piece-of-crap-no-start-cause-its-fucked-and-i-have-to-push-start-it-every-time NSR for a blat up the strip.

    But chickened out.

Instead I left early and rode home at a rediculously stupid speed.
Fuck that thing can go! I'm gonna take it next time (a fortnight's time) so just wondering if anyone out there is keen to come along for a bit of fun and have some friendly races? There were all sorts of bikes there today, including some fuckin loud harleys.

Yea, so fuckin lucky there were no cops on the road tonight. gotta love the sound of a screaming 2 stroke!

Yep I use to have a blast on my TL1000s at the Friday night drags they run there.  $25 will get you 10-15 runs...I could've done more but I like to let my clutch cool off between runs.  Usually lots of fast bikes to go up against (ZXR12s and busas running mid 10's) and boy racers in their cages too!

Jonah Lomu was a regular too in his Skyline which was pulling 9's.

fuckin hell thats pretty mean. yea just gonna go up for a bit of fun. it's every second friday from 6.30pm onwards till about 12pm if you wanna go for that long - at the meremere drag strip, just off the main road south of that stupid 80km/h 10k stretch where you're not supposed to pass.

I think I saw that R6 on Friday morning at Greenlane. I'd recognise those heinously yellow leathers everytime! 11.69's not a bad effort at all for a stock R6 and a normal rider. Has he done many drags before and whats he done to the bike?

Everything is stock other than the Perelie Dragons and a Yoshimura can. That was his first time on the drag strip. I think he said he was fastest for the day. His best was 11.689 @ 190 kmph.

I used to run my old cage at the drags but haven't run the bike yet. I've kind of gone away from that type of racing since I started track days (road course) on the bike.

Ahh drags. Zooming off at the lights. Good bye boy racer. Never done it on a track before, but have vivid memories of being bested by CK once on Botany Road. The skinny blighter is about 20kg lighter than me, which makes a difference when you're both on ZXR250's.

Like mine BEFORE this morning maybe... I think if I went there today my 1/4 times would suffer if I only had one handle bar and footrest. (dropped it, see mystery machine thread... I'm well pissed off)

As for that drag sharkey, it was pretty bloody close! I thought it was too close to call.
