Dropped mine after getting after a loooong hot day at work. Stopped and proceeded to get off without even attempting to put the side stand down. Got pinned under it and licked to death by the mutt. All cries/yells/screams for help ignored. 8 lives left to go....................

I was drunk and just getting past the bike so I could get my wallet from the back of the shed at work. (no, not drunk AT work, went out for a few drinks afterwards and left the bike in the work shed.)

My workmate's $30,000 Harley was sitting next to my old bike, and as I squeezed past I slipped and my bike tipped, and I desperately struggled to keep the bike from smashing all the gorgeous shiny panniers and chrome of the harley, and it may have fallen too.

Aiii, the handgrip slipped off the handlebar, I grabbed at any bit I could, I was in danger of me being pulled over and falling on top of it all... and slowly it came back from the brink of thousands of dollars of damage.

    Whew!

Actually, either way (duct, or duck) is acceptable these days.

It was originally called 'duck' tape.
