Those who dont learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.
The only real depends is how deep is your wallet.
You have already worn the loss of the 150.
Do you find it lacking enough to justify paying again and taking the depreciation again or do you just want more power to play with?
If you have to finance you will probably regret you decision sooner or later, we all know there is no way to predict the changes in our futures.
If you can afford cash to upgrade to something you are going to up grade again when you get to a full license, go for it. If you will have to finance and it will not be paid for before you get you full, think twice and make an informed decision.
If it is too small, no price is too much for safety.
Keep in mind a 250 that is well maintained will be relatively expensive, but your resale will be good for the same reason if you keep it in top order.
I've just upgraded my FXR to a GPX250. The fxr is lighter, more fun to throw round the corners, and revs easier, (and looks better), but since I'm riding to Aucks in a couple of weeks, the GPX is a much better bike. Great torque, super comfy seat (this is in comparison to the 2 by 4 on the fxr) and a large 18L tank which should give good range.
Some people may say that the ZXR's, RR's etc are faster, but having ridden a CBR R (pretty similar), I'd say, if the twins are cheaper, go for them. A VTR would sound nice as well, with neptune can's on it.
So if you have the $$$, hell why not.
I agree with the "if money is no object" crew. Spend it if you have it. Having a bike in the gargre that you can't wait to ride is special.
