    TXT to die for

Just come back from holiday and while sitting on the balcony of our accommodation enjoying the cars (not) going passed and stopping at the lights below our balcony, we noted 5 drivers were txting.

They got the phone, But 2 had the phones in their hands as they pulled up, from the tray and started TXTing while waiting for the lights to change . None of them put the phones down before they travelled in to the intersection. What f%^king chance do they or you have of preventing an accident while txting? This all happened in 15 minutes................so how many times a day are others at risk? We were on the second floor and could see in to the cars. Bloody scary in my book.

I can't understand how they can do it - it takes me AGES to send a text even when I am sitting down and concentrating on it!

I was travelling behind this woman last week, travelling at about 40 in the 50 zone, 55 in the 70 and then 80 in the 100. When I overtook her, I noticed she was texting. She was middleaged, not a teenager, so I blasted on the horn and she got such a fright she must have dropped the phone! I will only answer a call if I think it is safe to do so, and I would NEVER attempt to text someone while driving.

Unfortunately they aren't likely to run into a truck, they are likely to overcorrect when they run off the road due to inattention, and then wipe out some poor innocent bastard minding their own business.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

The Christmas before last, we had a motel unit at Mt Maunganui that was on the second floor and next to an intersection. The boys were having a great time watching eejits driving around the intersection and displaying various bad driving habits. The classic one was a guy driving an SUV, that had his right arm out the window (presumably holding the car together), and was holding a mobile with his left. When he came up to the intersection, he carried on talking and holding the car together and steered around the corner with his left elbow stuck in the steering wheel!

I was amazed when I worked in Ponsonby at how often I came up behind people wandering all over their lane on the Harbour Bridge, and when I got closer they were texting away with their phone on the steering wheel.

When I'm God, the first things I will do (apart from dropping 16 tonne weights on all the agents, politicians, economists and lawyers) will be to have road spikes that pop up out of the road when traffic lights turn red, and allow the police to shoot anyone caught using their cellphone while driving.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

hXc was riding down Taradale Rd one day, and passed a car - was signwritten as a driving instructor, and only one person in said vehicle (you could assume he was an instructor?)...the guy was texting!!! I guess learner drivers really need to learn that skill as opposed to learning how to be a good driver...
