New bike + stupid cage = Sad me :(

Hey everyone, finally got me a new pair of wheels <-- implying "2" YAY!!!!
1998 Suzuki RG150 (black with purple and orange vinyls)
Runs really nicely, and got it for the amazing price of $1500

OK, now for the 'suck' part.

Got up this morning, went over to my mom's work to collect some money she owed me (next to the old Warehouse on Te Rapa Straight/across from Road&Sport). Got EFTPOS card, went to Boyd Honda (Te Rapa Straight), bought some 2stroke oil ($27), then carried on up Te Rapa Straight to Supacross Cycles to get a WOF. Another $25 later, my bike is full of 2stroke oil (Castrol TTS Fully Synthetic), and it has a WOF. Then stopped at Westpac (Caltex Roundabout, yes still Te Rapa Straight), to draw the rest of the money owed from the cash machine. Then rode back down Te Rapa Straight to drop off the EFTPOS card. Park in a parallel-park parking, hop off the bike go inside hand the card back to my mom, as I turn around, I see a big people mover reverse 2 metres (half metre back out of theres, and a further 1.5 metres into my parking), and knock my bike over... I'm like WTF you dumb bitch! Anyway, have got all the necessary insurance details, and have been into Waikato Yamaha to get an insurance quote written up.

    Damages:
Top left fairing braket - bent
    Clutch lever - bent
    Left Clip-on - bent
    Gear-shift - bent
Left lower fairing - vinyl scratches
    Left mirror - broken.

Bugger! I've worried a bit when parking in parallel spots, though more that people will get annoyed at being prevented from using the park by such a small vehicle. Hard to see though too.

It seems to me that bikes are far too fragile, too - it's never that unlikely that it'll be dropped or knocked over, and all the bits seem to be designed to break and cost lots of money. Must get round to getting some crash knobs when I get my next bike ...

Sounds like your mum's probably breached her EFTPOS conditions, too

its a green conspiracy to kill off all 2 strokers...

bad luck, but look on the bright side, when you get it back, it will be an 8 year old bike that looks like new.

depends on what type of footpath you park on.. if it's out of the way of standard pedestrian traffic, they don't bother

There is definately something in the air...I really feel for you ZI.

Almost glad my bike is safe at home in the shed...disc-locked, cable alarmed, and with a car reversed up to the door...

Nah, who am I kidding, I miss him horribly...

Good luck getting your bike sorted ZI - may cars - and especially people movers and urban assault vehicles - stay well clear in future.

That is exactly what happened (twice!) to my FXR150. $420 and $1200 worth of damage. Bummer!
