Saw a relevant picture once in a bike mag.

The bike was a customised chopper thing.

When parked it had a two-inch spike that stuck up through the seat.

Nice.



I'm thinking maybe another security device might be a cable that is locked onto your handle-bars. Kind of a bike version of that "club" thing that car drivers put on their steering wheels.

The cable could be long enough to go to the back-end of the bike and back. Put through the pack rack (stop it getting stolen, too) or through the grab rails.

The cables might then make it "hard" for anybody to have a checky sit on your bike.

only one other person touches or has touched my bike at school, and she only does it when i'm around. i don't mind though, because she's a mate and is slightly add or something. she just plays with kill switch and petrol flap, nothing harmful.

i have seen people taking pics of it and they usually ask me about it (often foreign). alot of bikeys look at my new bike cus they don't know what it is and get pretty close looking at **** but nothing major. don't have problems with people touching my bikes never really happened yet. workmate used my footpeg as a doorstop today.. wasn't impressed about that though coulda just asked me to move it... grrr.

I was at a park recently and my Volty was parked next to an SV1000. Two little kids walked up to the bikes. The bigger one (about 5 years old) pointed at the SV from about 10 feet away and said "I like the fast bike best!" then walked up to the Volty and gave it a friendly pat on the seat. The littler kid patted Volty on the tail light because he was too little to reach the seat.

Awwwwww so sweet!

I don't mind kids touching my bike. As long as I've just finished a high speed thrash and they touch the exhaust or the engine.

Some #$%^ put a Trumpet ice-cream on my seat while parked in my apartment...that shit really makes the blood boil. Can't wait for the day that I step out of the lift and the punks are doing that kind of thing.

So what drove them to do it? Must be pretty pissed off with you... or of course it could've been totally random. Seems unlikely given the venue and event though.

I live in Napier. This was in Wellington. I know it wouldn't have been a kb'er, so it was a member of the public.

It was completely random. They may have been driven to do it by something, and my bike was just the one they chose. It was parked by Mikey's bike, but he left early so then it was alone.

I also saw a nice Vmax streetfighter coming home from work today. The rider was in a cafe over the road and I stopped to get a couple of picutres of it.

To be considerate, I pointed to my phone and to his bike, signalling that I wanted to take a photo of it. He gave me a friendly wave and then came over. Just told me about the bike and not to take any photos of the number plate (personalised too).

Was I being too considerate to ask to take pictures?

The Spada is completely naked, and my radiator cap is in plain view. Although I've never had a problem with it, I sometimes wonder...

If they take the cap or something you'll get more warning than if they dump a fistfull of sand into the oil-filler if you know what I mean.....

I have been out at the mall n had kids with their parents stop to look.. kids-'look mum look mum... its a real bike... a motorbike'.... they get so excited n happy... I have a couple of times offered to let them sit on it... which they did... me holding handlebars just incase...the smiles and grins on their lil faces... that makes me smile too... little things like that can make a kids day/week, esp less fortunate ones that dont have a playstation & ipod or toys... its a story for them to tell their friends... parents smile too when their children do... win win for everyone... they are always thankful for that kindness....*shrug*

I get what everyone means by when your not there tho... that is a diff story... however I personally wouldnt throw a hissy fit if no damage or anything was done...

it pisses me off no end. Last year I was working at Foodstuffs in PN and the bike parking was where everyone went to have a ciggy at smoko. One morning I came out and a jerkoff was sitting on my bike having a smoke. i hit the roof and got clouted for being "unreasonable". Fucktards.

at work I parked my bike in the bike park and got asked to move it as it was a fire hazard as it was next to the smokers area... the property manager went off his nutt at me cos my apparent flamable tank was soo close to the smokers!

I wouldnt spare the rod if i found someone sitting on my bike... (ay boomer your foot was a bit too close for my liking the other day )

Nah, I think that's a good example of why you should ask before you take a pic. If I saw someone taking a pic of my bike I'd like to know why, and what they were using it for. I don't want my numberplate ending up on the net where anyone can see it and trace it to my address. What if they snuck up in the night and stole my Volty?!
