Every motorcycle is designed with certain criteria in mind. To meet the differing requirements of differing riders. Some will require high performance. Some good fuel economy. Some good handling in deep mud. Some a good luggage capacity. Because different riders have different requirements.

The Volty does not meet your requirements. But then it was never intended to . It is a loaner. Such machines are provided by shops to provide transport for their customers. It is impractical for shops to match their loaners to the long term requirments of the customer. It provides transport until your own machine is back on the road.

Your argument amounts to a statement that any machine that does not meet YOUR requirements is "crap". Even though is may be entirely satisfactory for the requirments of another rider. That seems rather arrogant.

The motocross rider , on that basis, would certainly deem the GSX600 to be "crap" It has no chance at all of winning a motocross race.

I would say that a machine is "crap" only if it signifcantly fails to meet its design objectives. Which is not the case with the Volty.

You are entirely justified in saying that the Volty does not meet your personal requirements. But not that it is therefore "crap"

(Incidentally, of the several hundred different motorcycles I have ridden over the decades I have never yet ridden a single one that was not fun, that I did not enjoy riding. Each in their own way of course.)
Labelling something crap(TM) is of course a metter of opinion. I get the feeling that you have raised me up on some kind of pedastool that every word I say (or type) becomes fact. i get the feeling that if we met in person it would end with me calling you a dumbarse and going about the rest of my day. I delibrately do not qualify anything I say with "In my opinion" because it should be common sense that anything anyone says is in their opinion.

Back to the Volty, or at least my bike. Anyone taking a road bike and calling it crap cause it doesn't perform well on a dirt track is a dumbarse. You have to have some kind of level playing field and ride the bike for the purpose it was designed for. Road bikes belong on the road. Dirt bikes belong on dirt. My history is on dirt. I have also ridden fuck knows how many bikes from 50cc pitbikes to CR500s on dirt and a variety of road bikes from scooters to ZX9 to ZRX1200 would be the biggest I would say. Had alot of fun on my XR200 although I never raced them on the track. Took it on the track for a play but never raced it cause that was not its job. It was certainly slower than the CR and RM I was riding at the time but still a heap of fun. The scooters I have ridden were fun too. Zipping round town can be entertaining. While aI agree that every bike has its purpose the Volty is missing its calling. Hell, it is not even good at being an ordament in the garage.

As for being a loaner. AFC fucked my brakes up. Not once but twice. Their imcompedence and blantent disreguard for my bike pisses me off. If I required work doing to my bike for servicing or repair then I do not even expect a loaner bike. Often I will get someone to pick me up and leave my bike to be worked on and get dropped off at the end of the day to pick it up. However, in this case, AFC stuffed it up in the first place and then repeatedly tried quick fix solutions because they know that I am after a new bike and they are hoping that I sell this one off with a half pie repair so the problems become someone elses. I am sitting strong on the position that they can fix the problem properly and put the bike back to the condition it was when they first got it so the new owner can rest assured that there are no problems with the bike. And while they are spending a week trying to figure out which way round to put the brake pads in they can supply me with transport.

apparently too difficult for the bike shop!

Actually the bike went in in the first place for a new tyre, wheel bearings and to fix an oil leak that had developed.

I thought they could slap some brake pads in while it was there. Turned into a mission.

For what its worth I fixed the oil leak myself after they had 2 shots at it cause they couldn't get that right either.

Oh yeah, someone just called me a tool. what does that mean? I assume it is not good as there is a nice little red rep next to it. Oh well......
