    Bandit 600

A guy in work has asked for some advice re' buying a 6hundy. He's not a balls out sprots bike rider, so he's not all that fussed on GSXR, R6 typa machinary.

He's looking at a 600 Bandit on Tardme, but I've no personal experience or know anyone who has ever owned one of these.

    What say you?

We have one in the garage 2000(old shape square headlight)
They use same motor as in the gsx600, pretty much and old oil cooled gsxr motor,
Very under-rated you don't see many of the 600 around in nz. we got some nice stick 010 tires fitted to it, goes bloody well, if you are after a sport touring machine.

Motor pretty bullet proof (been around for so long), and many parts can be used form the 1200 on it

I had one back in the old country, in 98 or so, as my first real 'big bike', its easy to ride, smooth as silk - can be modified up the yingyang with all kinds of bolt-on flippery, some of which do great things....Its a budget bike, so springs tend to be a bit basic, with little adjustment - that said its not a race bike and apart from clicking up the preload for pillions I never had a problem. they are comfy on the arse, back and wrists.

HOWEVER, due to the design of the frame even a low speed off can bend the entire frame when the pillion pegs hit the dirt, so check 'em for crash damage and alignment.

I had a SV650S as well, and I preferred the bandit, the 650 V-twin is fun out on the open road and the twisties, but is just too lumpy around town, whilst the old GSX600F engine is easy to hussle about.

A great bike for a learner or back to bikes 'bike', the new ones have centre stands, fuel injection and all sorts of gubbings like that, I say they are a sound second hand buy and should their resale value well......
