    But Hilux's don't break down.

Wonder how it would fare trying to tow a stagecoach bus off the bridge? That seems to be a fairly regular occurrence...

I could only see this being used for the smallest of vehicles. Imagine a wet day trying to tow a car on a bike.

Not to mention the weight of the car would tend to push the bike around. Imagine going down hill and then trying to turn. The weight of the car would tend to push you straight ahead.

And then there is the whole issue of braking.

The more I think about this - it must be a hoax.

    Take a closer look.
There are brake calipers in the trailer wheels. It looks like the trailer brakes are slaved to the bike.
Having driven in Tokyo which has traffic problems that make Auckland's trivial, I can see huge value in a vehicle that can nip through traffic jams to retrieve a break down and clear the way.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Hitch load under braking is easily remedied. The biggest issue would be up hill hauling and hauling on any surface where traction for the bike's rear wheel became an issue.

I suspect that these things have been designed to haul vehicles comparatively short distances. A rig like this could get to motorway breakdowns and crashes a lot easier and quicker than a full blown tow truck, and could drag cars a few hundred metres or so to clear a path to release backed up vehicles.
