Its on again, the Tutamoe Trail Ride on Waitangi weekend, sunday 4th of February. Tutamoe is roughly 40 mins drive north of Dargaville on SH12. On saturday the first round the 2007 National Enduro Series will be run on most of the trails that will be used for the trail ride. The harder parts of the enduro course will be run as "expert only" sections on sunday. One section that was signed as "experts only" and "no quads" last year caused all kinds of problems when a couple of kids used the plastic bunting that was supposed to lead riders to where they could choose which trail they would ride on, for a tow rope. They didnt replace the tape and about 35 riders (some on quads) ended up down in an extremely rough rocky river bed and took 3 hours to cover 2 Ks of track. It was so rough we didnt even use it for the enduro.
The main loop will be about 60 ks long with numerous secondary loops and bail out points. Free camping is available.
