    Hope he/she is ok

    Copied directly from NZ Herald

A motorcyclist is in the Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital after colliding with a goat.

The man, in his 40s, was riding on a rural road near Raukawa, south of Hastings, when the wild goat ran out in front of him, Lowe Corporation rescue helicopter spokesman Brent Williams said.

"He couldn't avoid it and hit it, then slid along the road for quite a way."

A team of builders working on a nearby house heard the bike sliding and helped the rider until the helicopter arrived.

He suffered moderate to serious injuries to his shoulder and chest.

The goat was put down at the scene.

I wish I had nothing better to do this morning than express false concern for some random that has hit a goat.

Isn't New Zealand a happening place when some dickhead on a bike hitting a goat makes national news??

I've had some close calls with goats....they are ok if they are on the road, but I've had them leap off banks onto the road.Usually that is a family group, with the adults down on the road, the young ones hear the bike coming and head to the parents.Recently I came across some goats, one was lying curled up on the side of the road asleep....it just opened it's eyes and watched me go past like a cat,on a seldom used road and they obviously had no fear of humans or bikes.

Was worried it might be Dooly - glad to hear not. Don't know who it was, tho.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Ride in Raukawa at your own risk. If the sheep, cattle, turkeys, goats or rabbits roaming free on the road dont get you... us local hillbillies will.
