Snapt wants to set up a motorcyle forum

Quote from a PM to me today

'I've been talking with the other admin and are wondering if you would be able to go to your kiwibiker.co.nz community and ask them if they feel a motorcyclists forum would be useful?'

    Comments?

Please keep this on topic, mods have my full ok to be heavy handed on this one - like they mneeded it... but you know what I mean.

Who cares? They're not an authority, just a bunch of losers with cellphone cameras with nothing better to do. Why don't they channel their boredom caused by leading meaningless lives into something that's actually important like that chap who started the anti CYPS site?

Actually, thats not a bad idea....but only if they are told to lay off the heavy handed controls. Site is no better than a poor joke whilst it only allows 'yesmen'
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I certainly dont see the need for a MC forum on that site
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

Not for flaming (certainly) but don't you think our issues on the roads need to put in front of cagers? They are hardly gonna come here, now, are they?

Me. And yes - they are reading the KB formus - I showed them where they are. I didn't realise our involvement was supposed to be covert - should it be?

I personally think the separate forum for motorcylists is a good thing, a place where motorcycling specific issues can be raised, questions asked or whatever. In the full view of the broader motoring community.

I see that as part of my personal role... anyone wanting to know about motorcycles is welcome to ask, or they're welcome to confront me with anythin gtoo. If I can't justify it to others - why should I believe in it?

Given that their almost certain response to anything motorcycle related would be hostile, I don't see the point of it. So what they are saying is they want a special section for people to dob in motorcyclists doing stuff they (the dobbers) don't approve of. That helps bikers, how ?

My thoughts exactly, Ixion. I have looked at the Snapt website and was largely unimpressed. Surely they have better things to be doing - and I'm sure that pics of motorbikes doing "illegal" things will be posted, even if what the biker is doing is not illegal but simply something that pisses off the cagers. I won't be visiting that website again whether or not it has a motorcycle forum.

Also - aren't there privacy issues involved here? It looks like they do a partial deletion of the numberplate (for example, one pic was of a cream coloured convertible VW with the middle letters of the plate deleted), but a distinctive car or bike can still be identified by someone who knows it with just the first and last letters/numbers of the number plate...
Me and my imaginary friend have been goin' round the bend for some time now....

We can't stop them setting up a "Dob in a biker" section if they decide to (well, if they REALLY piss us off we probably can, there's some fairly high power IT talent here). But I certainly don't see that we should be fool enough to give it some sort of "KB Seal of Approval". How masochistic do they think we are ?

had a look at there site, saw a thread on lane splitting on motorway and traffic lights...OMG...

Apart from anything else when a motorcycle rides past at the lights it gives most car drivers a hell of a fright. I was sitting at the lights this morning, stereo on low and talking to my girlfriend on my cellphone and all of a sudden chug-chug-chug next to my window. I almost dropped my coffee and could easily have taken my foot off the brake in surprise and hit the car in front.
thats the type of person I hope I never meet on the road (even though they are everywhere)

Phone in one hand, coffee in the other, whilst braking.... I don't see your point
