    Binned my bike

Fuck I am so angry.....I got cut off by a double decker bus yesterday crossing Fanshawe on Halsey street (Auckland) just by the Vodafone building. He simply moved into my lane without indicating or checking his mirrors, I hit the brakes hard and my back wheel locked up and down I went on the right side of my bike. If I hadn't braked so hard he would have hit me too! The bike slid for a fair while, as did I.

Whole right hand side of the bike is scratched and broken, my leather jacket saved me from the worst damage, but my boots are stuffed and I hit my head hard so the helmet's out of service too.

    AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH

I really love my bike and this just breaks my heart.

So I'm off to Colemans to see what the damage will be today and to psych myself up for dealing with my insurance company.

In my opinion a good way must be quick, discreet, and you must be able to get a fair distance away before the flames get really big and draw attention.

Don't take it out on the bus. Whoever was at the controls needs a wakeup call, not the poor machine. Glad you're ok and have the chance to get even through the proper channels. Spoken to the cops? The bus company?

Crikey, glad to hear you are "okay" and able to post about your experience! Sounds like you need to do a ring a round and inform said parties of their actions. I'm sure your insurance company would like those details also! So bike is k-o for the duration?

Sorry to hear! Your bike was real nice and obviously well cared for! Hate to think the damage to mine in the same circumstances. Hope it can be fixed quickly and with out too much financial pain!

Bugger!! Glad you're not badly hurt - hope the bikes easy to fix and insurance co proves easy to deal with. You'd think professional drivers eg bus or taxi drivers would be better than the average driver......??

The bus did stop, the driver asked me if I was alright, I said yes and when I looked again he had buggered off. But it was a double decker tourist bus and luckily a lady working @ Vodafone witnessed the whole accident so I have the upper hand with my insurance company now at least.

Yip the bike is broken with a capital F, I'm sure it only needs a few things to make it rideable again but the majority of it is cosmetics. Probably out of action for a week or 3.
