Jeebus mate - you don't need a needle to tell you the difference between mph and kmh!!

    Enjoy the new ride.

First lesson of new bike: 60 on speedo is MPH not KPH !

Awww! Mate, it wont take long to build confidence with these things! I finally got my wife back on pillion after 30 years a couple months ago and we did the Waipu Coast ride on our way to Whangarei. She was so relaxed I was scraping my toes two-up! (By the way, people's who may scoff - that's after pulling my feet back on the pegs..! Very easy to scrape toes when feet forward!) She didn't realise and was really enjoying the ride!

Envy the new fairings!, my left side is cracked but figure it's not worth enough to go to the expense of replacing it. Doesn't look too bad from a distance...

Didn't you say the tread was just gone in the middle? Surely the twisties are the best place to get the rest of the use out of it

Not that I've got experience or anything (except wearing out the middle of my tyre from riding too slowly (and straight) ...)

yeah that does make sense, but i dont trust that tyre... looks really old. prob make a good track day tyre if someone wants it? hehe

will be heading on down to henderson motorcycles to get a new one fitted... may go for a dunlop arrowmax or another metezler - but i dont really know too much about tyres! I just liked the arrowmax!

    Good on ya Dan,
Thats a nice looking machine. Good score with spare fairings too.
You will be able to carry loads of maps and emergency supplies in that top box too.
What are you going to do with the ZZR?

yes the maps are allready 'stowed' in there...

Sold the ZZR - dude came to look at it and dropped it on my driveway, his brand new helmet bounced along the drive... ...it became his shortly after

Nice one In my favourite "go fasta red" scheme! Looks like you'll be having a ball getting to know the learning curve on your new ride.

Sorry to hear about your ZZR, but at least it was a guaranteed sale!

Really wanted to stick a new tyre on the rear today, but damm public holiday!!

    Any suggestions for what one?

    Manual says - 110/80 V17 Front, 140/80 V17 Rear.

Does it have to be the same 'brand' as the front??? Its got 'metezler' ones on now.

Will be used mostly for commuting to CBD during the week and 3-4 a week I hit the twisties for a few hours a time. Also something that will handle the odd long distance mway trip etc.

Can you get tyres that are hard in the centre and soft and sticky on the sides?? Because that sounds like it would be perfect!
