I might start another 'Conti Attack - feedback' thread because I've heard a couple of people say they're good. The price is best around at the mo at $259 for a rear 180. I'm getting a rear Conti Sport Attack fitted this week. Liked the ideal that I can return it within 500km if I don't like it. Cool, up the hill for a couple of passes to see how they feel then back to the shop at 499km. Then down to the next shop for another 499km then...Anyone have a list of all the Conti stockists? Preferably within 499km of Welly.
Shop said Jay lawrence is racing on them and I guess he knows a thing or two. They look more like a slick though with sweet stuff all grooves for water dispersement, which makes me suspect they might be useless in the wet?
They can't be worse than these BT014s I've been landed with. I wouldn't mind the pitiful tyre life if they had provided some confident grip when cranked over and atleast made a 20% effort to work in the wet.
edit- I see Limbitimwim also found the BTs wore too quick. You should try the Diablo Corsa sometime. I'm sure you will feel the added confidence it gives in corners. it might wear a bit quicker than a standard Diablo, but the extra fun and safety factor make up for it.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
All of the Diablo range are pretty good tyres in my experience. Although I've never tried a strada on the Front.
If you're like me and not a balls out hoon on the bike, the Diablo is the way to go, if your even more sedate you can't go wrong with the Strada. I used to have to push the rear quite hard to get any movement, and it never slid far enough to worry me.
Some things are worth dying for, living is one of them.
Okay, now I have Diablos at both ends, I can say I am very happy with them.
Heaps of confidence going over the hill this early evening, despite the wind. Much less standy-uppy when braking. If they wear well, I think I have found my tyre for this bike. BT-014, begone, and don't come back.
Hi man. Glad to hear you are loving the beemer.
I've just gone through two Conti Sport Attack rears on the Ape. I've been pretty disappointed with the mileage I got out of them but I am yet to see what the Ape and my hamfisted riding will do to another brand. I got 4,500km out of the rears (this is down to the steelbelting). They performed fine but the last third of their life went pretty quick. They were fine in the wet for a sport tyre. Will give something else a go when I can afford it.
I got 10,000kms out of the rear with my Hornet. Pillioning without pumping up the tyres pretty much killed the tyre in the last 200kms.
"If life gives you a shit sandwich..." someone please complete this expression
Have you tried the Stradas Clive?
You're Ape has tons of torque so may need something a little harder.
Currently running Strada rear and a Diabolical front on the 12. I use the bike everyday and have been more than happy with them...Fantastic in the wet.
I may be a little "daring" and try a Corsa on the front next time.
Good idea. I'm trying some supercorsas on the racebike this weekend. If I like the feel of them I was gonna give some Pirelli road tyres a look. Either that or some Metzeler SPortec M3's. Will see what the prices are like once I've paid for all this racing related stuff![]()
I got around 5000km out of a set of Road Attack's on the Zed, they were shot for about 1000k before I took 'em off. They don't seem to take the punishment that the Diablo's seem to be loving. I won't be changing from the Diablo's in a hurry, they're delicious!.
