Well, the last piccy of the 'red one' shows a for sale sign with $6500 on it. Something that the trademe hawks haven't picked up on I think.

I thought that they only made limited numbers of RC45s for racing homologation reasons (500 a year????). 11700 sounds like a lot of them.

I had an RC30 many years ago and I must say that the wanting was much better than the owning. Ended up swapping it for a Fireblade. Still that old Blade is now next to worthless while the RC30 continues to appreciate.

Well spotted, though it actually says $6250. Wonder how he can ask a $7500 as a buy now when he's got that sign on it? Would have been sneaky, if he hadn't left the sign on when taking the photos!

Nice! But by all accounts the RC45's werent that great when they were released, well not in standard trim anyway....
Still they're V4's so can't be too bad I suppose!
As for the 75hp at the rear wheel of the 400, Andy Bolwells ZXR450 is rumoured to have 90!

I seem to remember it finishing last in several 750 shootouts. Snatchy fuel injection, not enough power and poor weight distribution were (I think) the main problems (excluding cost of course which was the MAJOR issue).

I wonder how it puts out 75 hp eh. What exact mod? Pro Dyno Kits? It's a awesome looking bike though!

And I wonder who'd buy the RC 45 for that much when you can get a MV F4 for that price! (2nd hand I guess)

I'd not be buying a VFR400 that the owner wouldn't re VIN for me. Taking a chance it could be an ex racing bike. The other problem with the VFR400 is often the price they're asking. I'd still love an NC30 but it very much depends on the right bike at the right price. Okay, so it's not as bad as a '92 CBR250RR (some dealers are over $6k), but still, you can get a lot more bike and a lot newer for similar money in a lot of cases, or maybe $1k more...

    Here's an example:
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-86071732.htm

    And another:
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...n-85183391.htm

Okay, so they're both Hondas too, but that's what the original post was about...
Plenty of bikes are over priced on trademe as people on here have said, but there are some nice looking machines for nice looking prices too. Some are from dealers and look like better bikes and better buys than a more expensive private seller.

Hard for someone without much experience in bikes though.

    I'd take the RC45 in a flash..........if I had the cash.
It was one of the few Honda's designed as a road bike second and a race bike first so the road trim setup was a load of bollox and totally unapplicable to it's intended use. The suspension, exhaust and road gear would have all been junked as soon as it was wheeled outta the shop and the race kit applied, which for the average rider would have transformed the bike.
Slighty and co may have struggled at the outter reaches of it's performance envelope but for Joe Bunny like you and me it would be an awesome ride.

Do not walk ahead as I may not follow.
Do not walk beside me as the path is narrow
