the first one is worth the $30k... it's got enough titanium in it to build a large sized vault. Were the bizzo when they came out, and due to racing ad such are now ultra rare and ultra collectable.

The second one is the first's little sister, lest titanium and stuff but more fancy bits than on a stock vfr...

dunno what the guy with the black one has been smoking but if he thinks it's worth that...
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...

The owner of the Honda dealership in Ashburton used to have 2 of them sitting in his shop. I believe they were both his and were on display and at that time not for sale. I think they were Japanese imports.

Unfortunately the stock bike bears little resemblence to the successful HRC racer. Time will tell whether they'll become a truely collectable classic or not. Personally I don't think they'll ever be as fondly remembered as the RC30.

I thought the "stock" one had all the engine bits in it??

I think the RC45 seemed like a disappointment when it came out because everyone remembered Fred Merkel winning two WSB championships on the RC30 and here was a new Honda to take on the Ducatis which had marched ahead in engine size and development, and they even employed Doug Polen a former WSB champion to ride it. Once the RC45 was on the scene no other 750 four got close to its record in WSB, but alas except for John Kocinski winning the title in 1997 no other 750 four ever did either. So was it a good or bad bike? Who knows really. Even now given how Bayliss has performed back on the WSB Ducati are any of the Jap 1000 fours any good either? Its all relative isn't it. Should we really all buy Ducatis? I don't think so.

Me I'll stick to my VFR because it was released around the same time as the RC45 but as the street version and it does that job perfectly. I am sure if I rode the RC45 I would begrudge its riding position and its overly tall first gear and I would hardly notice the extra 25 hp.
    Cheers

Just bought a copy of "Bike" magazine over here in the UK, and some guy had written in saying the RC45 was his dream bike but he couldn't find one anywhere, impossible to source (he was from the US, and they never made it over there) etc etc, and then saw one while overseas on holiday, in a motorbike shop. But no amount of cajoling would make the dealer part with it as it was a part of his personal collection. Goes to show, to the right buyer, they really are worth a fair bit of money.

they were still there on Saturday I drooled over them. They've been discussed on KB before also.

I dont think Brendan would sell them. my view is the RC45 at $30k is good buying, and has potential to be a sound investment.

I also think that a cash offer of $25k would buy it.
