Had my bike since Dec 23 06, done just shy of 5000km. All pleasure riding, I commute to work on my peddley.

Last evening in the Bay was stinking hot so I rode out to Whaipatiki Beach after work and went for a swim. The beach is a lovely sheltered Bay with a small camping ground that the local farmer has set up on his farm. Its very nicely done, the campsites and cabins are set up on terraces and look out to sea. The sea was beautiful and warm, with a bit of a swell running for the surfies.

Oops got a bit sidetracked, I'm just full of the joys of the summer in the Bay. Love those warm evenings.

Should have added more Kms options

I thought few would do more than 20,000 a year. I got that wrong. What say this poll runs for a few more days and then run another for the real riders?

Thanks - this is giving me a target and will help me plan when to replace the newish bike.
    Here for the ride.

I bought my 97 Intruder in 05 with 9500 miles on it (in 8 years)

After blowing the dust off I managed to average 1600 kms per month.

Just bought the ST1300 and managed 2000 kms in 2 weeks so far. Unfortunately I'm not available for the Southern Cross Rally.

About 30,000km a year, based on the past four years.

Did about 3,000 in the whole of '06. Already passed that this year with a 3,000+ South Island tour over the last 2 weeks. The SRX still has only 22,000 on it. Not bad for a 1990 model. Since I've had it, it's averaged 69mpg!
So far the Virago is averaging just over 52mpg.

Just done a quick tally up.. have done approx 12,500 ks in past year, & that was in 9 trips! 8000k of those in past 6 months. 3000 was in 1 trip, of 8 days riding.

Am a solo parent with 4 & 11 yr old boys, so my cage is my main form of transport. My bike is purely my passion, & my sanity saver!!!

Couple of years ago.. did 804ks in one day.. just to go for a ride!!! Went from Motueka, Murch, Westport, Greymouth, Kumara, Arthurs Pass to the Viaduct, back to Jacksons Pub, into Lake Brunner to Nelson creek, up to Reefton, Inangahua, Murch & home to Motueka. I slept well that night!

ps: I wasn't planning on going quite that far.. but the leather clad butt wrapped around the seat of the TL1000 in front of me was kinda inspiring!!!

06 was a wash-out as far as quantity goes with only about 3500km. No longer commute now, working from home and that was usually 7 days a week last year. The "plan" is to work less ride more in 07 . Trouble is, that was the plan for 06 as well.

Did 60km in December and even less than that this month.
This year is appearing to turn into a sub 1000km year, and definitely will be a sub 2000km year.

I remember being told by a fellow biker pre-KB days, that to keep your riding skills tuned, one needs to clock over 80km per week.

I do 1000km a week on commuting and on a weekend about 400-500km touring!
A little less in the wet weather...
