    You know you're hooked when...

...alternative title - "How I've been spending my lunch hour"

OK folks - magic out there at the moment and I've discovered that going for a ride is a great way to spend my lunch break (I'm sure this is not news to many!)

Yesterday - even though it was quite windy I rode around the bays in Wellington, from Oriental Pde through to the road up to Mirimar (ie. around Shelley bay way), got lost in Mirimar but managed to find my way back past the airport, back round Oriental Bays and back to work (dagnabit).

Today - gorgeous out. "Needed some petrol, might as well get it at lunch time" - oh and also do 15 kms or so up through wadestown, up the top of Orangi Kaupapa road in Northland, back down, through the Karori tunnel and Kelburn back to work.

Means I have to gobble my sandwich when I get back to work, but well worth it indeed.

All I need now is a longer lunch break..."I'm going to get petrol. I may be quite some time..."

*four hours later..."I'm back! Oh, home time? That's too bad..."

    Enjoy it, everyone!
Me and my imaginary friend have been goin' round the bend for some time now....

Hmmm - I tried this but there's just too much Auckland in every direction from where I work - by the time I get to the good roads it's time to turn back to the office.

Sure is a beaut day for riding in the Capital today. Pity that the morning commute is getting back to normal after the break.

Coming down the Gorge was a bit slower today, but the trip along SH2 to Petone was good. I'm looking forward to heading off this afternoon.

It was mildly moist on the Rimutakas this morning.

Fantastic Fiona, maybe I should quit being a train commuter. Is this summer now going to last? That is the question.

Know what you mean Mr McJim. I try and get out but its more of a leave the office early type scene and try to beat the rush back home. Not a bad thing but requires more planning than just spur of the moment.

Good on you apteryx_haasti sure is hard to beat when the sun is shining

Well, um, this one time, I skived off and rode to Raglan when the CVS server went down.

Recently I've started popping down the road on my lunchbreaks and kicking the shit out of a large bag hanging from the ceiling in a concrete-walled basement. Very cathartic.

Feel free to give me a buzz the next time you're going off to see that doctor if you need moral support.

Well, I don't think I could make it to the takas and back in my lunch break (not on my GN, anyway!) but...

...today looks good for a ride perhaps up the Ngaio Gorge and along the back to Karori and around there.

Anyone have any suggestions for shortish (45 mins or so) rides originating from Boulcoutt Street/The Terrace??

I mainly hang out on the other side of the harbour, except for work, so I feel I really should explore our fine city...

    *sigh*

No riding for me at the moment. Bike needs too much maintenance after being stuck in the garage all Xmas/New Year and now we're stuck with painting while the weather's good so have no time to give the required tlc

    House....bike....house...bike....so many things to prioritise!!!
