Bought new klx today, now to ride it

Bought it today but getting it on monday as going away for few days with kids.
will do the mods you all reccomend and i ordered some race tech springs for my lard arse ( bike set up for an 82 kg flyweight)
and changing the bars to something higher or putting bar risers on it.
dean bringing a few different ones for me to try.
    so looking forward to it.
was going to get a new 06 rmz450 quite cheap but decided against it , hopefully i dont rue that decision.
i spoke to a couple of guys who are very good trail riders and they thought this would suit me as i learning again from my teen years. and they said if you can get quick on a slower bike you'l be much quicker when/ if i get a bigger one, because i'l have to work more on the klx than if i just used power from a big thumper.
So bring on the dirt and mud i say.

Definitely go for new bars, I've got some Pro Taper ones with the Henry/Reed bend ( 92mm high, 57mm pullback ), it's a pretty good compromise, it's still easy to flick around sitting, but standing is alot better, the originals bend way easy & are to low.

I've also tweaked the rear brake to lift it a bit higher, which makes braking whilst standing downhill alot easier.

I also got some bark busters ( actually zeta ).

I'm just under 100kg & I'll leave the shocks as is, but I'm not big into jumping .

    Cheers

    Nigel

P.S. I took the airbox cover off, first run tonight on a local mx track, though the shop reckoned that one is worth waiting until after the first service.
